Again thanks to all of you. Pete and I think we have reached a tentative game plan. Next spring we will take the Canadian trip cross continent by rail. This will put us in Vancouver. From there we can lease a seaplane for a few weeks and travel the West Coast a bit. Carole the San Juan Islands have always been one on our list for sure. I am sure that there will be many more ideas pop to mind. The rest of this year we will travel locally by auto and Pen I have a Niece who lives in Unionville CT. I don't know where that is for sure but I'll find it. I need to visit here and the great nieces and nephews. Lady come fall when it cools down we will give the golf a try....you will have to give me strokes and several mulligans LOL. Thank you all again your ideas are super and we have printed all of them out and will keep going over them till we get travelled out. Love and happiness to all Duffis My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 924 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 27,720 Amount Saved: $3,234.00 Life Gained: Days: 200 Hrs: 6 Mins: 9 Seconds: 29

Well come to the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Hundreds of islands here nestled in the sound between two mountain ranges. Whales to watch, a third of the rainfall of Seattle. If you come soon, you can help me pick beans and make gazpacho. Fresh dahlias in your and Pet's room every day. Fresh eggs of course every morning with Costa Rican coffee. A huge surround the house porch...it used to be a smoking porch... now it is just a great relaxing porch from which to watch the sunset over the bay or the herons drying their wings in the cedars above the meadow. No malls, no gas stations, no traffic, and no need for keys. My husband and I have traveled allot in your beautiful USA. In March we went to the race in Bristol TN and then travelled through the state after the race. We just stopped at welcome centers and picked up brouchures and went where ever we wanted. We went to all the little small towns on backs highways and chatted with the people in the towns. What a wonderful time we had. We went to the Smokies and hiked where we could and enjoyed the wonderful view and fresh air. What I am saying is sometimes its best to just get in the car and go. I love visiting the states and since we are avvid race fans we combine the trips with racing and travelling. They say we have some beautiful Provinces here in Canada but since we dont have NASCAR here we haven't travelled here much. Maybe you could visit here and let me know if its nice lol. I am sure where ever you go you will have an awesome time just because you are enjoying it together. Well Duffis, Our retirement trip has been in the planning stage for several years. We have a list of places we want to see on our DRIVE to ALASKA. We think we'll go out across the northern states, see the parks and the sights, and we have a great list of places to see and to fish in Alaska. Then we will come back across the southern route and see those things on the list. We figure 2-3 months to do it the way we want....oh yeah, with a little camper behind the truck. My non-smoking savings should pay for a portion of the trip, andI won't have to worry about smoking regulations anywhere! Make it memorable! Martha, I love San Diego, one of my favourite places for sure! Such friendly people, so much history, such a clean, beautiful city, my Steeler so kicked Charger butt at the game I went to! I will always remember it fondly & hope to return. Aloha, the Queen Charlotte Islands & they are spectacular! Hi duffis & pete! As a life long sufferer of wanderlust, I figured I'd throw my own suggestions into the mix. You could check out elderhostel trips - they offer wonderful lecturers and educational programs based on the area you are travelling in. I worked on a small cruise ship for a couple years and when they would charter the boat I was always impressed by how comprehensive the trips were. Just do a search on elderhostel. Good stuff. I also have to give a shout out to sunny San Diego because, well, I live here and it also happens to be lovely ;) Springtime is definitely the best time to visit, things turn green and the wildflowers are in bloom. Keep us posted on what you decide... Take care! I agree, Anna..on the Mississsippi and the winner gets to go ;) and I agree with you, too, Ima...Napa and the Bay Area. I'm thinking of catching some of the winery/smooth jazz events next yr I always like to include music when I go someplace. I went to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival the past two years...wonderful food, beauitful architecture, friendly peole, and so so much good music!!!
