I'M BACK AFTER 10 MONTHS

Hello Stevo...I know exactly how you feel. I have had a decent year with many yo-yo anxiety issues. I haven't been on this site for a long time myself. When I do have setbacks, I get the guilty feeling that I have failed at controlling my anxiety. I rather have a bad rash than feel that way! Anyway, I am going through a setback myself. Two weeks ago had cosmetic surgery and I am feeling rather weak both physically and emotionally. I am lucky to have such a supportive doctor, family and friends but I still feel anxious too. Go back to your doctor and see him/her regularly. It is so important to not blame yourself and get on the mend. I wish I was up to par myself. Gloria

Michael- Welcomes to the site! I have found it helpful and I hope you will too. So what is your story as far as the onset of your panic attacks? I have only had it for about a year and a half. I don't really want to think about dealing with it for the rest of my life but thanks God there is medicine to help people. If I didn't have the medicine, my life would be very limited. Do you experience depersonalization too? I was reading the description of what this is this morning and its good to get a handle on what all those weird feelings I get are. I look forward to hearing from you. Jay

Don't think you're alone Jay. I'm a 39 yr old man in pretty good shape, active, and cursed with these panic attacks. I just found the site and my goal is to access it at least once a day. My ability to control the anxiety has increased since I found this site and realized there are MANY people who have this problem.

Stevo- I just found the Panic Center today and I am glad to see other men (I hope!) using it as well. I have gone about 6 months relatively panic-free and have lately been worse off than when I first started having panic attacks. I am dissapointed at my setback but I can also visualize myself improving. With more medicine, the help of my therapist and this site, I can only do better. My only advice is to take it day by day and plan on hard but effective work. Take time to understand what factors control your feelings and eventually you will be able to control those factors. Hang in there!

Hi Stevo, All I can say is that you should be proud of yourself for going 10 months without anxiety. Even if you continue to go in cycles that is a great accomplishment and you know inside you can do it because you've done it before. Its hard not to think about it after it happens but I think that is the way anxiety works. During your 10 mths of success, anxiety was prolly one of the last things on your mind as you lived your life but now you are back to thinking about having attack and I think the fear of having an attack leads to the attack. Its sounds even sillier as I write it. But I guess thats why this is so hard to beat... Tara

Hi stevo, Welcome back to the site. Sorry to hear things have not been going well for you lately. This is always hard, particularly when, as you said - things had been going well. Try to find strength from your earlier successes to help you through this difficult time. Also be sure to seek professional assistance (meds or therapy) if this helped you in the past. Be sure to post often and let us know how everything is going. Casey _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team
