I agree - I'm a puff away from two packs a day...... Good job not caving in. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I know what you mean, Ariell! Almost a year now for both of us! Woo hoo! I think I'm even allergic to cigarette smoke now. It plugs up my nose and makes me sneeze and cough, makes my eyes burn and water, and that's only if I'm around even one smoker. Blecky! Makes me wonder why I'd even want to start up again. My emotions have leveled off again. I think it was the end of summer blues or something. I'm still stressing over some things and still annoyed by others, but at least I get a moment to myself once in a while now. I'm going to start daily walking outside now, too. Take care! And thanks, everyone! -Maddie My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 324 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,248 Amount Saved: $729 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 7 Mins: 52 Seconds: 48

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

It must be the week for it. I'm so very tempted to smoke right now. I'm mad at someone, very, very, very angry with this person to the point of just never talking to them ever again. I'm mad at myself for gaining 20 pounds and not being able to stick my diet/exercise plan. I'm tired of everything. And I'm sitting here thinking that a cigarette might make it all go away for a while. I'd lose weight again if I smoked instead. I'd fit in with everyone again if I started smoking again. All of my friends smoke. I could tolerate this person I'm upset with if I could just have a cigarette. I deserve something with as much as I've had to put up with and as much as I've been working. But nobody cares at all. And it's August again. The last two times I started smoking again, once after a 7-year quit and once after a 2-year quit, it was August. There's something about August. I don't know. Maybe the kids are driving me nuts after three months home. Maybe I'm tired of the heat or the constant working and yardwork and housework. Maybe it's because I'm another year older and everything is still the same as ever and it sucks. I don't know what to do. There's nothing good to eat. There's nobody around to talk to. There is a pack of cigarettes sitting in the living room that some stupid person left there. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Phew, that was a close one. Thanks for all the support. I didn't smoke and I didn't eat. I horsed around with the kids, cleaned the house a bit, watched TV and went to bed early. I don't want to go back to wheezing, coughing up brown stuff all the time, wasting money, smelling bad, etc. I've been buying new clothes for myself with my quit money, and I'd rather have clothes than ciggies. Plus I've been complimented on my smell three times in the past 10 days, and it's nothing but soap and shampoo. No perfume, no stinky lotion, just clean me without trying to mask the stinky smoke smell. Yeah, MistyMoon, if I could flip on the switch that makes me exercise when I'm upset or frustrated, I'd be down to my high school weight!! LOL I used to exercise in high school when I was upset. I'd slam the front door and just run until I had nothing left in me. And you're right, I did switch from one addiction to another. The truth can't offend me, you're not being judgmental. My brother and I had this discussion when he quit chewing. He didn't even know I smoked, but everybody can see I've gained weight. I find myself wandering to the fridge when I'm upset or bored. I try to keep lots of fruits and veggies in there, and there's not much junk food in the house. I need to work on the issues behind the stress and emotions. I just don't know how to either fix them or not let them bother me. ((((Hugs)))) -Maddie My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 315 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,158 Amount Saved: $708.75 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 13 Mins: 28 Seconds: 37

Maddie, Step away from the situation and give yourself a chance to see clearly. This has not been your week. Take the time to get our those coping mechanisms and use them! Throw those smokes out and don't think about them. Take the time to make some you time and know that this is normal. We are with you every step of the way. You know why you started back after your last quits, so take this knowledge and use it! You can do this, 300+ days is phenomenal and you should be proud! Take the 24 hour rule to assess situations before jumping in. You did well by posting here, so give yourself a chance and push forward :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
