The geat blessing of mankind are within us and within our reach; but we shut our eyes, and like people in the dark, we fall foul upon the very thing we search for, without finding it. We don't ever "recover", this is a life long, 1 day at a time battle which does get easier with time :) Although if you forget that you're not recovered, think u have this licked, don't keep coming in here, or foget to have a back up plan and use it, relapse will be in the future. Addiction is a disease within us addicts that never goes away. But the great thing is that we know we're addicts & that's a blessing in itself :) After finally admitting we are addicts and finally getting the courage up to quit, it does get easier if we do the things that we know will help us not relapse. Knowledge is power and the more time we spend on our recovery the more knowledge and power we have to stay quit :) So keep on keepin on b/c you're worth it! And don't be like me and stop coming to this site or another or anywhere you'd like and think you don't still need help. Because we never recover from the disease of addiction. But if we stay away from smoking this disease cannot kill us a soon as if we were to keep smoking, which should be unthinkable by now. If you had cancer and were told you would die in a month BUT if you stopped smoking today that you would live another 30yrs, would u stop or would you choose to die in a month instead? Just saying...we know we have a disease called addiction and if we don't stop smoking it will kill us. So would you stop smoking to live longer? Did anyone actually have to think about the 1st ?. Sure sign of addiction & how it has a hold on us, if we don't stay on top of it, lol.
