As addicts we have to change our ways if we want our behaviors/habits to change :) In order to stay smoke-free we cannot be the same person we were when we smoked. Addicts tend to be emotionally immature b/c we don't know how to deal with our feelings/emotions very well. Here's something that might help to change the way we think. there are 3 sides to the average Human Personality: 1. The PARENT ego state. 2. The ADULT ego state, and 3. The CHILD ego state. When a person is functioning from the PARENT ego state, this individual is functioning from an authoritative, bossy, opinionated, and critical state of mind. Which gives this person a bad attitude. (A) These kinds of people deal with the world with a lot shoulds and oughts. When a person is functioning from the ADULT ego state, this individual is functioning from a realistic state of mind. (A) These kinds of people dealwith the world as it really is. When a person is functioning from the CHILD ego state, this individual is functioning from a immature state of mind. (A) These kinds of people dealwith the world as they wish, hope and dream it could be. For an example of a Stimuli-Response of these three ego states check out the following Question/Answer instances: 1. Q: What time do you have? (ADULT Ego State) A: Time for you to get a watch!!! (PARENT Ego State) 2. Q: What time do you have? (ADULT Ego State) A: It is 10 minutes after 5.(ADULT Ego State) 3. Q: What time do you have? (ADULT Ego State) A: It's time to go Party and have Fun. (CHILD Ego State) Precious One, if you'd noticed the above examples, you'd see that the ONLY person who really gave an answer to the Question, was the person who was functioning from the ADULT Ego State. For neither the PARENT, nor the CHILD gave an actual answer to the question asked of them. Instead, they answered from an "attitude" and a "feeling", instead of their Brain. Yet the Questioner is seeking information from the Brain. Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true. Leon J. Suenes Happiness resides not in posessions and not in gold; the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul. Democritus These are more motivational than inspirational: If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes. St. Clement of Alexandra Experience is the child of thought, and thought is the child of action. We have some very talented writer's amongst us! Mercy & ladycigevictor, are 2 off the top of my head. I was thinking this could be a thread for inspiration. I don't have any poems of my own and of course you don't have to write a poem to leave an inspirational post :) Just breathe......ahhhhhhhhhhh My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $14.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 21 Seconds: 49

The Person I Long To Be By Victoria A. Mogyorosi The day light breaks again Another day has begun. But still no sleep has come. My body is weary My mind overworked. I lie awake thinking But what I am unsure. I need to break free from the cycle I endure. Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished. I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tide Unable to break free from the everyday flow. This is not me I need to change, before time takes over And I am unable to change. I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinary And become that person I have always longed for. Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake. Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest. Make changes in my life and help those in need. I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive way And leave my mark on society before I fade away. :) Have a blessed Sunday everyone! :) Just Breathe......Ahhhhhhh My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $14.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 17 Seconds: 48
