Hello there Beren, Zyban is basically an antidepressant so i can only imagine that this would help immensely with the mood swings associated with nicotine withdrawl. When we stop smoking our bodies suffer a period of low Dopamine & seratonin levels (blood sugars). Each cigarette triggered the release of these reserves which is why we felt good when we lit up + the fact we were releaving nicotine withdrawl from the previous cigarette 45 minutes before hand. A work collegue has successfully quit (4 years) using this 'Zyban' aid + i've heard alot of good comments about it. I still recommend learning about your addiction to nicotine as this will form a strong foundation to staying quit. Beren So glad to see you here. I can see that you are quite a serious and considerate person. Its good to plan this out, laying out a road map for yourself will be invaluable. Here is one thing I would hope you will consider. YOU have no need to smoke. The need to smoke has been created in you by the cigarettes. That is one of the dirty little secrets of the addiction. Once you stand up to the cigarettes and refuse to heed their call for more nicotine, YOU will be back to your natural state of being. And your natural state of being does not include cigarettes. Also cigarettes have convinced you that you need them to traverse the unavoidable emotional chasms that appear from time to time. Again, you do not. There are many bridges across troubled waters. Taking the nicotine span is more like walking on a tight rope than it is like strolling across Tower Bridge. The later provides a relatively risk free chance of reaching the other side. To take the other means to carry a balancing pole weighted on one end with sickness and on the other with poor self image. It is likely that you will cross the gap, but why do it in such a risky manner? Make what you want that which you fervently desire and you shall have it... nonic Please let us know how you are getting on... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 236 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,080 Amount Saved: $1,652.00 Life Gained: Days: 43 Hrs: 3 Mins: 22 Seconds: 3

hello all, l know, l am replying a little bit late, but l did not want to come here still smoking, now l am proud to say l have gone through day 1 and it was much easier, l KNOW l will do it this time. Thanks for all the encouragement in this and previous posts. Casey, did what you advised, got a lot of information, l appreciate your help. Sparky, l will keep this quit, no matter what! Sue, l read about many success stories about chantix, l wish l could get it, but have no intention to wait for it. l am going to be fine, l know it. mercy, luckily zyban is working just fine right now. it keeps my mood up, and l am not feeling like 'about to cry' every single minute as l did while trying to do it cold turkey. tresa, l will do it one way or another no matter what, if zyban did not work (thankfully it did), would have gone with NRT. but l am such an addictive person, so l wanted to give zyban a chance before, and am glad l did now. nonic, what can l say?? l am totally committed to my quit and l am not struggling any more, thank god. People were talking about this mental place where smoking is not an option, and l was wondering if l ever get to be there.. You know what l've found out? l am already there! it does not seem so impossible any more, l can and will do it! l must say, you helped me a lot, more than you know probably:) cannot put in words how thankful l am.. l am looking forward to being over the hell week.. beren

Beren, i was glad to see you here and that you are still trying :) i dident use anything but the Nicatrol Inhaler, it wasent hard to come off of it for me, so i never really felt i was getting another habit, tho i did love it and called it my Binkie, i used it for 4 months and then i was done, the quit went on without the binkie, i hope you find something that works for you but dont be afride of a NRT Tresa :):) YOU CAN DO THIS :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1832 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 36,640 Amount Saved: $6,412.00 Life Gained: Days: 258 Hrs: 8 Mins: 55 Seconds: 15
