Beren I get the feeling that you are traveling between the lines at the moment. You want this, but at the same time the other side of the road is calling your name. This is actually a great time for you, although I am sure it dosen't feel that way. If I can help you in any way, feel free to contact me on IM. I travel a great deal, and when I do I leave cyber space behind. However, when I am here I don't mind lending a hand if I can. You need to get in a very quiet conversation with yourself and work this thing through. The world is a very loud and jangly place, don't be distracted by the flash and jingle, it is just that, empty white noise. I believe there is an invisible river that carrys each one of us through all of the highs and lows. Once you know that and learn to listen you will understand the quiet place that is the source of your personal strength. You are fighting to get there now, the irony is that you are already there. Take it slowly, you will understand in time and you will know that hurting yourself by smoking is part of the noise...Look for the quiet places between the lines... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 230 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,900 Amount Saved: $1,610.00 Life Gained: Days: 41 Hrs: 23 Mins: 39 Seconds: 48

Beren, I am so sorry you are having a tough time of it. I took chantix - and had great success with it, I wish you were able to also. I have a friend who had great success with Zyban, and is 12 weeks smoke free now, but that is all I know about it. Please stay with us on your journey, this place really helps, we are here to support each other, and you so keep posting. Beren So glad to hear from you, I was wondering where you had been. I am sorry that you are having a rough time of it. I can't tell you anything about chantix as I did the patch and welbutrin(zyban). I am sorry that you are unable to get chantix, it seems to help a lot of folks... To tell you the truth, the patch and zyban were over kill for me. I really only needed the patch. The zyban was good as it kind of made the cigarettes taste funky and it chilled me out fairly well. I know how hard you are trying and it breaks my heart to see you struggle so. I also am fully aware of how difficult this can be. You know and I know that in order to do this thing, you must submit your will, attitude and very being to the task. I don't mean this in the way of taking on some huge unmanageable burden and sweating and crawling up some impossibly high mountain. I am talking about raising a quiet, but steely strong attitude about it...to the point that not smoking becomes who you are...I know that sounds odd, particularly because I just advised you to become a verb when you are clearly a noun. However, because a verb indicates movement, that is what you must become. This is not simply a cessation of an action (smoking), you are engaging in a process of putting on a new way of being and moving through this world in a different manner. Eventually this will get easier, as the idea of smoking a cigarette truly becomes a choice. Right now it is not a choice it is an obsession, an addiction that you must and will break. So take your time and stay right here with us, we will always speak to you when you need us, simply because we understand the addiction. We also know full well that we are fragile as eggs...But what keeps us from breaking is that part of us that now chooses daily to not smoke...You too can develop that ability, all it takes is a willingness and a belief in yourself... Stay well and quit nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 229 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,870 Amount Saved: $1,603.00 Life Gained: Days: 41 Hrs: 21 Mins: 45 Seconds: 55

I have tried Zyban and it worked for awhile, but that was me. I don't like the NRT stuff, because you never get off the roller coaster, my opinion. There is a book out there by Allen Carr, which I would highly recommend for anyone who is considering quitting. It helped me to understand this addiction. I am currently on Chantix and about ready to be finished with it. I am sorry you can't get it, because it has done wonders for me. Others may have different thought. The key to my quit this is time is, are you listing? I wanted this quit just for me and nobody else. I am willing to go though whatever that monster wants to throw at me. I just do not want to smoke today or any other day. Best wishes to you. hello all!! after a couple of trials(and failures unfortunately), l decided cold turkey is not the way for me:( l don't want to use nicotine replacement(am afraid of changing the addiction only), chantix is not available in my area yet (and l don't want to wait), so l think l will go with zyban. could you share your experiences about it?? l know everybody is different, and l know l should consult my doctor (l will after l decide to go with it), l just need to hear some experiences about it. thanks in advance:)..
