Good Morning Duffis,
How nice to wake up and read about my favorite subject. The power of positive thinking. The power of being filled with gratitude. Choosing happiness. I sure wish I could get my point across as eloquently as you do.
When I started my quit, there was no way I could have done it if I continued to think that I was going to be a miserable non-smoker. To me I didn't see the point in quitting if I was going to be so unhappy. I mean what is the point?
I, like N2K, educated myself as much as possible regarding nicotine addiction. I armed myself with knowledge. Then it was time to get the nicotine out of my system. Once the nicotine was gone, it was do or die time. Time to feel the fear and do it anyway ... it was time for me to choose to be a HAPPY non-smoker; to not choose that just meant a miserable journey. And I don't know about any of you, but miserable journeys suck in my opinion. Nope, nope, nope ... not gonna do it. ;p
Being happy is a choice. Happiness is not something that happens to us. Happiness is inside of us. It is our choice as to whether we are happy or not.
A positive frame of mind keeps us in a place where we are primed to receive blessings. It keeps us in a place of perseverance and determination. If we spend our time looking at the mud instead of the stars, we will surely miss a ton of opportunities to live our lives happy, filled with gratitude and eyes looking upward to be prepared to catch those blessings when they are bestowed upon us.
