Hi All, Well I decided yay day will happen this week, just one day delayed. Happy Yay day everyone! You guys boost me into action you know. :) My mum has been busy making herbal essence honey mixture stuff (she's got so many books on things like that) and is making me take it every morning as only mums can do. It hasn't got to the hold nose until mouth opens torture part just yet :) Actually, I don't mind honey so its not that bad. It will take many days to build up and make an effect on me, but anything is a good thing. If it works, I will write the recipe here. Sue, the most noticed change is my ability to smell things I could never have smelled before. This is a blessing when outside in the garden, not so much of a blessing in a office full of sweaty techies :) I think it may take a good while yet for me to feel fitter, in reality. However, I am making progress in that department by fast walking for 30 mins during the week and 1 hour during the weekend, keeping my heart beat in the upper limit of 131-149. Not that easy actually. After another month or so, I will work up to the next level called 'improve' (the current one is 'maintain') which should strangely improve my cardio-vascular fitness. From my threads you may remember that when I first put it on it gave me a value of 29 which is like 'wait a sec, are you alive?' values. So I will be looking to increase that value in a month or so. The secret is to ease yourself into these things. Other major benefits are whiter teeth, ok they're not as white as most peoples teeth but they are 90% better for absolute sure. I may even get up the nerve and upload a first post-smoking piccie. Do you reckon it is a good idea? Pat, soo nice to see you! I wondered if you have left. Its great to know you check in. I am ultra aware that so many fail around this point so I am determined it won't be me. Hence I will keep up the promise each day. I promise to my friends at the SSC and to my quit buddy that I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY. Here's some smileys. :) :) :) Guess what, today is the last day of week 4 (miracle mile week)! I am starting to look forward to writing a 'JDK has 1 month' thread on completion of day 30 (ok 28 days should be as it is a lunar month, but everyone picks 30). That would make me really happy. Then the realisation may hit. Pat, you're right, its like a comatic state at the moment! (hugs from kev) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 675 Amount Saved: 113.40 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 33 Seconds: 58

:) :8|: :) Kev...I think the first 6 weeks of most quits (including mine) are/were similar to being in a coma-like state. See a doctor, a therapist or the mad hatter if it will help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ YOU ARE DOING FANTASTIC. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Keep making your daily promise and taking one crave, one day at a time. It does get easier. Much easier. Maybe by next Tuesday you'll be out of the tunnel. :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 191 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,640 Amount Saved: $2,674.00 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 15 Mins: 9 Seconds: 49

Hey Kev, I think you are doing wonderful, I see strength in your posts, your thoughts - keep quitting and you will be just fine. Remember your pledge. Look at those awesome stats, aren't they wonderful? Don't you feel good? Physically I mean, your breathing, sense of smell, taste, are you appreciating this stuff yet? I see something positive daily. That offset all the supposed crankiness my co-workers have said I picked up - personally I think they are projecting :D hang tough Kev okay? Right, just an update for you before I shoot off for home. I've had a deep conversation with my team leader (who has been keeping tabs on my progress on regular intervals). She has asked that if I don't improve by Friday then I book another appointment with my doctor. As much as I would rather chew off my own arm to avoid doctors appts, I have promised to do so. Me and promises hey?! In the meantime I have some more ideas to improve my mental state and happy outlook and try not to look like I am looking for ligature points. If I work on that, people may stop avoiding me. Everything takes time, and I have got this far with people saying 'It gets a lot better soon'. So important to have that light at the end of the tunnel! I remind myself that many many times a day. Having read all those slipping threads and lots of people having troubles recently (I wondered if this was a 30 day pit come early) reenforces my understanding that I cannot smoke and slipping is surely not an option now. I have come way too far for that. Anyway, whilst I am typing away yet another crave I thought I would like to thank all of you that keep me going. You all know who you are. By the time you read this, I will have rewritten this many times :) Yay day will return next tuesday hopefully. The positive thing is that I made it through another day just by writing lots and lots and lots. Aloha, they've started selling wetsuits in my local superstore. That may be a sign!! :) Gen, how about swimming? Your feet are supported in a volume of water. Its a low impact sport. On the positive side, a slow shuffle means you can enjoy the beauty of the world for longer. That was a bit of positive kev creeping out. :) This is kev signing out, happy that he's here. They hurt like h***. Just tried to go out shopping and the painful shuffle is just not a good look! Feel really fed up and envy all the people on here who advocate walking, running and the like because they are just not possible. BUT Hey ho. We're not smoking and that's the main thing.... Hi Gen, Nice to see you! Hows the feet now? Has the swelling gone down? Hope it is not too bad.
