That's a lot of money that could be spent elsewhere! The Ontario provincial government did announce they would be removing the PST from NRT's. Hopefully, the government will follow suit, drop the GST and Bear's stats will also decline! Thanks for sharing! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

If those numbers are correct Bear, that means that approximately 16.5% of the population in Canada still smokes. That surprises me. I would have expected that to be lower, seeing that the only place left that you can smoke is outdoors (some places) and on your own property (for the time being)! Yah we know the government is making a killing off of smokers and still subsdizing tobacco farmers, No one has stood up to them yet and said 'shame on you!'. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 149 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,725 Amount Saved: $1,571.95 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 6 Mins: 45 Seconds: 52

Not to mention the squillions of dollars being spent on NRT ! either way the Governements around the world are doing pretty well out of us. From the amount of revenue that smoking generates i can only imagine what this world would be like without it ! Apparantly 5.4 million canadians still choose to smoke. If the average price of a package of cigarettes is $10.00 that means that $54 million is being spent per day on an addictive substance. :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 134 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,412 Amount Saved: $1,340.00 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 17 Mins: 2 Seconds: 56
