I'll add my little thought dump here. Every time you smoke in a certain situation, you're starting a neural pathway in your brain. These don't actually last long. However the more you do it, the more it becomes a long lasting pathway. Its still in your short term memory at the moment. Keep doing this however, and it becomes a permanent neural pathway and hence transfers to the long term part of your brain. For example, say you started smoking in the pub and nowhere else, and continued to do this for a long time. Now, for you pubs and smoking are connected within your brain. One of the processes of quitting is disconnecting these neural pathways, by constantly performing a healthy routine. What in effect happens is that your replacing an old 'bad habit' permanent association in your brain with a good one. Thats my thoughts on it anyway. Hence, by writing here every time I crave I am replacing a bad habit pathway with a good one. Hi everyone, Hmmm talking about thinking. I think lately I have had a thinking problem. Smoking thoughts have seem to hang over me like a cloud. Although I remember how it was to quit. So I think I think crazy thoughts when I think of smoking. :confuse: Ok.. when I smoked I thought differently about smoking, cigs and even myself. When quiting you have to change your thoughts, ecpesially related to smoking. I also had to think better thoughts about myself. I purposely thought of all postives for quiting and all negitives for not. I am a firm believer in you are what you think. If you think negitive and discouraging thought you will feel and BE discourage + negitive. Here is a thought: What YOU Think = What YOU Feel = The way YOU Act So quit thinking stinkin thinking ;p Thats all folk.... Good luck to you all. When you ask my name and I reply it comes from memory. Just like I remember when I smoked. I remember how bad i felt and I remember the awful smell. I don't have to think long before a memory kicks in. Bear, How much smarter can we get? 100 years ago we didn't have the technology or the "smarts" to identify, much less cure, cancer, go to the moon, or have computers. However, many people smoked. 100 years from now, how smart will we be? How fast will we run? How far will we go? What will new technologies afford us? Will there be a "cure" for smoking? Take a pill...be cured? Maybe? It comes from our ability to think. We have in fact decided that the ability to servive is predicated on our power to think.
