I have been reading about how people approach their quits. Some do it cold turkey, which I did two or three times. Some quit with patches, which I did about half dozen times. Some quit with Zyban, which I did three times. Some try other over the counter methods, which I did three times. Finally, and after fighting it tooth and nail I went on Chantix.
I really wanted to do it cold turkey, because out of all the above quits it was the easiest. But for some reason I could never stay quit. What is different this time, is the drug block the receptors in the brain. So my thinking is why bother, I wont feel the effects anyway. So I am thinking what is really going on for me is it is allowing me time to change my old behaviors. Yes I still have thoughts of smoking and I know I will for sometime, but it doesnt mean I will smoke. I know the nicotine is gone and the pills will be gone soon. Then it will be up to me and with your help to keep moving on a day at a time.
You see I am a very selfish person and I now have enough days that I just plain do not want to give up. I have worked very hard to get to this point and I just do not want to do it again. If I have to use duck tape to tape my mouth shut so I wont smoke; I will.
Just wanted to share some thoughts.
