i'm not crazy...

i was ocd free for 8 years on paxil and then all the symptoms cam back do my psych increased my paxil but i still have many symptoms...i understand that with ocd i will have symptoms but what about that 8 year period where i have had none? i think a neurotic person can be psychotic (i.e bipolar manic stage). i know a person can't just become schizo and i was told that i am, too old to 'become schizo' (29 yo)...i just want to feel NORMAL again

I'm not sure if this will help, but my Doctor told me that one can either be neurotic or pschotic, not both. If you have panic/agoraphobia/OCD, you are neurotic, so no chance in he## of you becoming psychotic. On the other hand, my mother-in-law is schizophrenic, but, do to the advanves in medicine, now lives a happy, useful life, with no interference from her mental illness. She is a wee bit eccentric, but then she's English, and really no more nutty than any of my other English relatives. I wish our illness could be fixed so easily. ttfn Lauralai

i get the racing thoughts alot and feel real hyper and on edge and the intractable feeling that something is wrong when nothing is. i have a great life and i am content but i get these weird feelings and thoughts. i have ocd and tell myself that 'it is just ocd'. but i can't stand it! i can neveer relax and fear 'losing my mind'...

Hi nurseboy I feel the same way. What makes you think you are going crazy? For me it's the racing thoughts that sometimes don't make sense to me

i know that i am not 'crazy' or schizo or psychotic nor have i ever been. i have been reassured by counselors, psychiatrists, friends, relatives, wife, ...but i fear ...i dread becoming 'crazy'. i know it doesn't just happen and i have never been psychotic...just can't rid my self of this obsession!
