Unhooked & Chickennoodle, Thanks! I just wish these other people in my family could just start behaving. I guess that's what makes life interesting? I think I found out anger & stress are my worst triggers. Think things might be a little rocky for awhile but I will keep on walkin & breathin without the dope. Thanks for your kind words! :gasp: My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 868 Amount Saved: $217.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 20 Mins: 7 Seconds: 11

mylast, it sounds like you came through this very big test with flying colours! I saw your post this morning but didn't have time to reply. It looks like I'm just in time to congratulate you for making it. I'm really proud of you & really admiring your strength & commitment to your quit. Sometimes the ones we love test us the most. Thank you all! I love this board and all of you beautiful non-smokers with your words of wisdom! The walk didn't occur to me at the time and it did wonders. The urge just was hitting really hard. Thanks for the support and encouragement! Smoking would not have changed my situation one little bit except to make me feel horrible about myself again. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Mylast That's what I used to do also, walk through the smoking area just to take a peek and to see how those poor smoking souls were holding up and also picturing myself there with them and how foolish I was. I hadn't recommended doing that to people here because people react differently to the situations. Later on in my quit I would stop and speak to my old smoking buds while they were smoking. It just strengthen my resolve a lot. I looked at my buds and just felt bad and I thank God that I finally put it to rest. I am happy for you. You have done the right think and you should be deeply proud of yourself also. I hope thing will be ok on the home front. I love you llamas! Mylast, Look at you! Employed your new coping strategies (walking & posting) instead of your old one in face of stress. Kudos to you on a tackling this trigger! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hey Mylast, You and I are living the same story. I went through the same test a few months ago that you are going through now. I did the same thing you just did went to the boards and posted. The first 3 replies I received back were from people going through the same stuff. Just keep busy keep walking, talking, eating whatever it takes to get through it. We have to learn to live with these stresses without smoking. Several months ago when my son was in jail the first response was have a smoke it will make it better but the reality was he would have still been in jail and I would have lost my quit. Take some time and think of YOU and what is good for YOU. I am here if you need me :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,400 Amount Saved: $780.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 23 Mins: 26 Seconds: 12

MEN.....I blew a quit many years ago when my husband walked out on me. Now I look back and think, "why did I risk my life for that bird brain." Hope things get better for you - people often say things they don't mean - don't blow it just yet! Stickin, Your spelling is fine. The walk was just what I needed. Cleared my thoughts. I think I did take a leap! I feel very good about not smoking and I know it wouldn't have helped. Just would have increased my blood pressure a bit. I guess I need to retrain my brain in times of stress. I had a stressful day at work yesterday and I had more craves than normal. I can even remeber the taste in my mouth at these times. The crave only lasts about a minute or two. On my walk I even walked through the smoking area and I kind of felt sorry for the smokers. It's a very large area and I didn't even get a whiff of it but I could see the smokers. I had no intention of smoking when I did this, I felt very strong at the time, it just reinforced my resolve. The ashtrays were full and it was disgusting. It is so easy for this addiction to try to get you back in moments of weakness. Mylast I copied and pasted this again and fixed my typing errors. Too many. Hi Mylast I hope things work out. And know that you have just made a tremendous leap forward in your journey to freedom. As you said, smoking does not do the thinking for us not does it get us out of harms way. I am proud of you! Say how did the walk do for you?
