What is your best quit moment

My best moment was telling my doctor that I finally did it and seeing how happy he was for me just made my day. Socialising without anxiety. Breathing on people without fear. Washing clothes and knowing they'll stay smelling fresh. Saving money to get new teeth. I have way to many best moments since I quit.....not coughing, feeling better than I have in 36 years and smelling better, looking better, getting a new job, life in general is great. My rewards would be the very best though, I have rewarded myself all along the way. I believe we are worth it!! I have had a simple reward like a cappucino, or a diamond saphire ring ( hey, I said we are worth it lol) or a trip to Vegas. Reward yourself all the time, it reminds you of how well you have done with your quit. My very best smoke free moment as on the morning of my one year anniversary. There I stood at the top of a mountain looking down on a view that included land, trees, a lake, and a bridge. I have never been more proud of myself than I was in that moment. Knowing that dispite all the difficulties along the way, I had made it one year smoke free. It was a great few moments in time that I won't ever forget. I have so many! The one that comes to mind of when I knew I was free occured about 2 1/2 months after my last slip. I was extremely pissed off at somebody from this site and was very determined to smoke just out of spite. I walked to the store (refused to drive... made myself walk to let off some steam), but the walk wasn't long enough. When I got there, I was STILL determined to smoke. I bought a pack of cigarettes, my old brand, and a 6 pack of beer. My last slip was due to me being extremely intoxicated, so I figured that if I got drunk enough, I would "forget" that I'd quit smoking and just let my inhibitions go like last time. So, I walked home, still ready to smoke, got drunk as planned, and then destroyed all of the cigarettes while reading one of my reasons for quitting. See, when I made my list, it just so happened that I wrote down 20 reasons for quitting - the exact number of cigarettes in a pack! I didn't plan it that way, but it worked out that way. So, I destroyed the cigarettes and just knew from that moment on that I would never smoke again. Crave the Quit! "But there were hard times I look back on fondly. Infact some of my worst moments in the quit are the ones I cherish. Why is that? " You cherish the hard, tough times because it reminds you of how far you have come, and reminds you that you have the right to be so proud of yourself for getting through those tough times and for beating this god-awful, controlling addiction one day at a time!!! Great memory btw.....you have done so well.........and have come so far......

Hi, Before I go to bed I was reflecting on my quit. It seems like a long time ago I smoked my last cigarette....yet at the same time it went by fast. I know, doesn't make much sense does it? But there were hard times I look back on fondly. Infact some of my worst moments in the quit are the ones I cherish. Why is that? The one I think of the most is driving to the corner store after I was either 60 or 100 days quit. I sat in the parking lot crying my eyes out. The car was in park, but not shut off yet, and I was griping the steering wheel for dear life shaking and sobbing. I had driven there in a trance.....like a robot on auto pilot. I was in a prison I couldn't get out of with no way out from the addiction. There I was in a terrible state of mind being forced to choose between "a life"....or "a life more abundantly". I swerved out of the parking lot still sobbing all the way home and came to this board. It was that day I knew I had really decided for a smoke free "abundant" life. Is there any best moments that stand out in your quit?
