Hello Denver, Try chewing on some black liquorish candy, for Your cravings, I heard there is an ingredient in there to help with Your cravings, also might try half of a milk shake straw during those cravings, which only last a few minutes, You have to expirement what works, the same don't work for Everyone, Also, I hope You have found something to replace Your addiction of cigerettes, like walking everyday for a couple miles, make a menu of healther foods to consume, Otherwords, keep Your mind busy with other interest, What You feel now about Your Quit, what You feel now will not last the rest of Your lifetime, I knew after 4 months, that was enough cigerettes for me, I would never go back down that road, It's now been a tad over 4 years for me, since a cigerette has touched my lips, and I can actually promise You, One will never touch my lips again, Positive Attitude they call it, Like a lot of Friends on here say, ''If I Can Do It, Anyone Can,'' So get the Eye of the Tiger Denver, and don't look back, Smokless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1595 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 47,850 Amount Saved: $6,826.60 Life Gained: Days: 372 Hrs: 23 Mins: 56 Seconds: 15

Hi there Denver The first three days can be tough, but then you will learn to master the cravings. One hour at time. One of the withdrawel symptoms I found during the first few days was time distortion - I had cravings that seemed to go on forever: but really they only lasted a few minutes. You are fighting for your freedom from nicotine drug addiction. It's a great fight, and a great fight to win. So stay with us on the fight and don't puff again. Have faith, you can beat nicotine. Hi! I am new to quitting as well! I have gone 6 long days without a smoke. So far I have just ignored the cravings or kept myself busy doing something else. If you ignore the craving, it will pass. Drink lots of water and imagine all of the cool stuff you are going to do with the money you save. Oh and I love this site! It's really cool to get on here and see my milage. You can see how many cigarettes you have NOT smoked and how much money you have saved. The people on here have been totaslly awesome and supportive too. Good luck! Thank you so much for all the words of wisdom. Today is my quit date and so far I am okay. I play a movie clip type thing on my desk (and in my head when I am not at my desk) of my hubby and little girl and family. These are my constant reminders of the benefits of not smoking. I tell you though, I am having a strong craving, but reading your posts have helped and this whole program is helping. Again, thank you so much

Denver, If you plan real hard...stay focused and not smoke...NO MATTER WHAT... you will be soooooooooo glad you quit. This place is awesome and I would never be where I'm at without all these fine people. I love them dearly. Come here often. Don't be scared. Your not giving up anything but cigarettes. You can do everything you always have done in life....but smoke. You don't have to give up ANYTHING but cigarettes. It is an exciting new journey. It doesn't happen all at once. Making a new you takes time. Remember... YOU DON'T "HAVE" TO QUIT......YOU "GET" TO QUIT. Welcome again, mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 178 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,560 Amount Saved: $795.66 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 11 Mins: 6 Seconds: 8

Denver, Welcome to the SSC! We encourage you to work through the online quit program if you haven't already. It will help you prepare for cravings, triggers and withdrawals. The best tip I can give you for the first week? Lots of distractions and lots of pampering! Keep us posted. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Welcome Denver, I'm very happy for you in your decision to quit. I wish you all the best in your efforts. The best advice I can offer is choosing nonfat distractions for getting through those tough times; water, deep breathing, carrot sticks, sugarless lifesavers and your favorite whatever and keep them close and handy.
