Wow, memories came flooding back...
taking my Mom's leftover butts that weren't completely smoked, and going down into the basement and "teaching" myself to smoke them.
After a while I bought a pack, but then someone told me I wasn't really smoking since I didn't inhale them. So I watched my mom to see what they meant, and I headed back to the basement to learn how to inhale (and choke, and inhale, and choke)
But I learned! Then I practiced for another 40+ years. How smart I was!
A few years ago I decided to quit...and was semi-successful for several months. I thought I could be a "social smoker" but I couldn't teach myself to do that.
This time, I quit, no social smoking. I learned new skills, and thanks to this site and the wonderful people here I took the time to notice all of the benefits of quitting.
I am learning to live again, without the addiction. It's a wonderful feeling. I think I'll practice this for the rest of my life.
