I'm not sure if it's recommended or not, but the few times I quit with the patch, I used the generics, and used a cotton ball and some rubbing alcohol to clean the spot I would put the patch. It seemed to work, I rarely had issues with it sticking, and I live in Ohio, so it gets pretty humid here also.
