Congrats Zehra. Reaching for the smokes will soon end as time passes. I don't even reach for them anymore. I don't think about them they way I use too, almost like I would die without one. I didn't. It sounds like your QUIT is going to be a good one yet still challenging. Stay positive and don't give in! NOPE. Not One Puff Ever! And I mean it! That's all it takes for me... one puff and it's all over. You can do this. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,525 Amount Saved: $213.50 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 53 Seconds: 29

Good luck to you Zehra. Sounds like you have a healthy respect for the addict. The more prepared you are for dealing with craves while socializing or drinking with your friends the more comfortable you'll be while your out with them. How do you get through the craves? There are any number of strategies and don't forget walking away from the situation that makes you want to smoke. Also, let your friends help you if they will. I too respect the addict; I know it can hurt me if I let it. I had my last cigarette on Sunday, July 8th. I put my first Nicoderm patch on on Monday morning - and I feel great! After smoking for 12 years, I am so surprised that it has not been too hard. I have attempted to quit smoking numerous times cold turkey but, I always went back to smoking. But now I am so serious about quitting, so I've decided to use an aid. The patch is working superb. It's only been three days and already, I feel I have a lot more energy than I ever did, I am not wasting so much of my time especially at work. I've noticed that I'm getting my work done sooner than I had been, and I've saved $30 already. Although I am reaching for my right pocket (where I kept my cigarettes) automatically during certain times, I am just so happy that there are none left there. The weekend is coming up; I am a little nervous about it because that's when I would smoke the most - with friends while I'm out having beer. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself here. It's really helpful to read the stories and experiences of others. Thank you!!
