MY DAY TO QUIT

17 years ago 0 20 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thanks for all the encouragement. Today has not been as awful as I had thought it might be. Not saying that it has been easy either. Everything I do seems to be a reminder of a Winston. I am just taking it one hour at a time for right now. Hi Mace,Your right it is a big change. I had smoked for 47 yrs and I am free a week today. It was also my choice this time to quit. The Doctor told me to quit and I didn't. I couldn't be around my grandchildren and smoke and I chose smoking. I tryed to quit several times just to start back. My life is a mess. I am not happy and I feel bad all the time. The only thing I have control over is me so I figure I should start with smoking and go from there. This last week has been miserable at times but so were the ones before it. Smoking is not going to solve my problems. It only makes them worse. It makes me feel like the addict I am. It's not easy but to go back is just as tedious as to go forward. I'm choosing to go forward. I'm glad you are too!! Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life Mace!!! Hang on tight and don't let go. It is quite a ride but one you won't regret! Be sure to get some coping mechanisms in place for when the craves hit. Learn all you can about this horrible addiction and when you need to, don't hesitate to reach out for help. Find yourself a quit buddy, someone you can really relate to and that will help you as well. YOU CAN do this!!!!! Well here it is my day to quit. I am going to need all the help and support I can get. It is something I really want to do for the first time. Oh I have tried other times and it only last for a few days. Those times I was doing it because others said I should. This time I am doing it because I want to do it. I am hoping that will make a big difference in my being able to really stop this time. I have smoked for 48 years so this is really going to be a big big change for me. I have read alot of the post in here and everyone seems so supportive of each other which is so wonderful.
