23. Find a mantra that speaks to your heart and use self talk! When that empty feeling comes upon you, SAY YOUR MANTRA. One of mine is "peaceful and free". 24. Do not romantize smoking. Look at smoking for what it really is. A disease causing, poisonous, stinky, life-long addiction. 25. In spite of the discomfort, find the joy in being smoke free. When a craving hits, smile and say, "I am so glad that I no longer smoke. I am one day closer to never feeling like this again and that makes me happy." new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 41 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 984 Amount Saved: $205.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 15 Mins: 35 Seconds: 37

Excellent thread, stickin..thanks! 21. breathe DEEPLY and wait 5 minutes. Most likely the crave will pass and you will have all that extra oxygen besides. Then congratulate yourself. 22. Remind yourself that even if you want one, you won't smoke because you are a non-smoker. Say it loudly if needed. 18) Know that the only way to get through the tough stuff is to not light that next cigarette. All the funk that goes along with quitting is caused by smoking so smoking will not help it! 19) You are NOT alone! All those who successfully quit got there one day and one cigarette at a time - you can too :) Unhooked - your number 5 is awesome and exactly right! My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1064 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,280 Amount Saved: $4,788.00 Life Gained: Days: 81 Hrs: 6 Mins: 32 Seconds: 58

10) Suck on peppermint. Instead of lighting up I would pop a peppermint. 11) Always remember NOPE Not One Puff Ever! One is too many and a thousand will never be enough. 8) Committment! Be committed to your quit. Close the door and never look back! Treat it with some seriousness, you wanna quit - then go do it! But be committed to doing it, no matter what! 9) Be realistic! Stay away from the drinks and parties and big triggers (if you can help it) until you feel safe within your quit. Use common sense, if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and talks like a duck, yes its a duck, you are not invincable, you have to protect your quit until it feels a comfortable part of you! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 122 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,050 Amount Saved: $1,287.10 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 23 Mins: 19 Seconds: 40
