Call me MomMom I'll join you in the 30 min. a day workout. My friend and I started walking on Sat. We walked 3 miles at a vigerous pace. I wanted to walk again on Sunday but was ill all day and could not. I am feeling a bit better today, but not totally 100%, I think I'll try and walk anyway. I sure could use inspriation like yours. Thanks! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 67 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,683 Amount Saved: $335 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 3 Mins: 8 Seconds: 12

I hope you all don't mind my joining!! I work from home, on the computer, and am taking online courses for my bachelor's degree. Since my hubby works swing shift, and his schedule changes every 2 weeks I keep his schedule as well. This sucks because it means I lead a very sedentary lifestyle. We have no children together, so often the highlight of my day is walking the 30 feet to the mailbox...lol I have struggled with my weight for years, since I was a teen, and so the though of weight gain had me very tense when I first decided to quit, and frankly I still refuse to exercise in front of people. This is what I do at least every other day, and I hope to increase it to a daily schedule as it gets easier without the smokes! I bought a DVD called Weight Loss Pilates - you pick the level 1-3, and follow the routine, and it takes about 35 minutes and raises your heart rate from the very beginning so I love it. I follow this with a routine using that huge work out ball thing. It came with a chart of exercises, so I just do 10-12 reps of each with I'm still sweaty and out of breath from the first workout...lol This usually lasts about 30-40 minutes too. I follow this with 40 minutes of yoga - this has helped to increase my flexibility, and is a wonderful way to stretch and cool down after all the others! I know that not everyone can spend two hours a day exercising, but it's perfect for the housewife, etc. and it really doesn't feel like a workout until the next day, I love it. I have lost about 65 pounds in the last year, and have only 30 more to go before I reach my reccommended weight of 135 lbs! Good luck to all! :pALL HAIL THE NOZZLE THINGY! ;p Jessica My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 61 Amount Saved: $12.63 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 28 Seconds: 32

Ok I have noticed a weight gain but have been so focused on not smoking I wasn't caring about the the few extra pounds till my clothes made me notice. Today, I did some exercises and watched what I ate, used Sweet and Low in my tea instead of the sugar, that should help some . I will have to make a conscious effort, every day to get these extra pounds off. Way to go Lolo! Just remember to not push yourself. Start small and work up if you have to... better that than getting frustrated with yourself for not being able to do all that much at first... you'll be amazed at how quickly you start to work up. Alright, I'm headed to the pool! Crave the Quit! Ok....I m going to do two things at once....I know I need to exercise to help with the craving thought....I also am getting frustrated with how I look in the mirror so....I will walk everyday for at least 30 min. I think it comes to about 1-2 miles for 30 mins. I will try and do more if I can....I would like to be able to say one day soon that I have walked miles! Or to be able to walk 3 miles in 30 Mins...I want to be able to walk faster in a shorter amount of time.....I can remember not being able to walk 2 blocks without huffing and puffing...Now I am talking about walking for miles...Here for ya's We can do IT! I have to!!!!! NOPE!!!!

Another great team effort here! Here are a few tips to help you couch potatos started: Start small: Even 10-15 minutes of activity has been shown to temporarily improve mood. Set a realistic goal: Once a week is a great starting point and remember you can always change your goal later on. It may also be helpful to schedule it on the same day & time of the week and let it become part of your weekly routine. Exercise is not a chore: If you do not like the gym, find an activity that you do like that will also get you moving. Some examples include sports, dancing, walking with a friend, pet or your favorite music, bicycling... Identify your barriers: Address what is keeping you from exercising and modify your goal or strategy accordingly. Keep us posted! Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

I'm sticking with the idea that muscle weighs more than fat, because since I have been treadmilling 18 miles every week and doing sit ups on the exercise ball, I have gained weight. Hmmmm. - I say Keep moving and eat as healthy as you can - also treat yourself! That's how I roll! I had a great time with my daughter and our two little dogs. Last week I bought a doggytrailer and that is so much fun. We put the dogs in the little trailer and then hang it behind the bike. The little things like that so much. We went for a ride this morning and stayed away for more than two hours. We had the best time and so we lost at least 14 grams....lol kidding :p Who else? Well, my stepped up exercise and calorie counting routine is finally paying off! I had gained 4 pounds, and my husband and I started a walking routine one week ago. At first we added a mile or two each day to our walk, and we are now walking 4-5 miles a day. We walk in the early morning while it is cool outside and the air smells clean and fresh, and we stop halfway for a 15 minute break and a bottle of water. I am counting calories with the help of an online calorie and exercise tracker, and I am staying under 2000 calories each day. I would love to drop that to 1500, but I feel hungry even when I know I'm not, so for now the 2000 will just have to do. Anyway, after a week of this, I have finally lost ONE pound, and I'm proud and motivated to do it again next week. Only problem is that the time spent walking really cuts into my day, and I'm falling behind in other things. So today we will take the day off and clean house and mow the lawn instead!
