How many planned their quit?

17 years ago 0 5195 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I planned my quit. I had set and missed several dates but finally set one and didn't change it regardless of the obsticles. I also planned on being in situations where I could not smoke. It worked for me!! I still wonder where my strength came from I didn't know I had it in me to actually stay quit this long. My motto now is quit or die!!! It's so great to see everyone's stories!! This is my 3rd (final) quit...I've had 2 good practice runs!!! I had this one planned for about a month to do with a friend. We decided we wanted the first day without cigarettes to be while we were at work so we would be busy. We set the day after the long Memorial Day holiday. See, I will be teaching in the fall and don't want to be one of those teachers who can't do anything after school because I have to rush out for a cigarette, or telling my kids not to smoke while I'm hurrying out for a nic fix. So... My friend couldn''t do it - said she didn't want to quit and promptly went back to smoking after 3 days. But I'm still here, and actually starting to love it!!! This is great everyone. Thank you so much for you input. I love to see the diversity in the way we all have to cope with this differently. I know it was in my head for months. I would sit there and wonder what I was doing every 20 minutes. My wife said let's pick a day and I said fine and picked some far out day like 2 months away. you know, I could always "forget by then" Then one night I had just bout 3 packs so I would not have stop for a few days on the way to work. I smoked about 5 of them, found this site while just thinking I would research it, told my self "no more of this" "I'm done" I took all three packs and broke them in the trash can and that was that. Months before my "planned day" Thanks again all and keep them coming... Oh yes I planned it every day for at least 40 years but didnt get on with it. Then Jen (her indoors) put more pressure on and made me an appt with the counsellor. The night before I was due to quit the shop where I buy cigs had a sign in the window back in 25 mins. So I thought F ! it and stopped... So there the perilous journey began.... If you want a good nagging to keep you going I will lend you Jen!! me xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 328 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,216 Amount Saved: 1,722.00 Life Gained: Days: 63 Hrs: 22 Mins: 13 Seconds: 25

This is my first quit and I have to admit I didn't put much planning into it. My doctor had given me Chantix several months before and I filled it and it sat in my kitchen cabinet. Friends would come over ask about it and I would show them the box and info on it. One morning I got up and decided I would take it because you could still smoke for the first week. I always had a fear of not having cigarettes with me. I stopped after a week on Chantix and made sure I told everyone because I knew I would sneak outside for one if a craving came on. I found SSC 2 days into my quit and here I am today. Chantix helped but the SSC made it possible. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,040 Amount Saved: $663.00 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 10 Mins: 13 Seconds: 41

I found out about this site through my work & decided to give it a try since I couldn't seem to stay quit before. I had set a quit date & was doing the program. I went to get smokes one day about a week before my quit date & the price had gone up over $12. I quit the next day, slipped after about a week & then got patches. Signing up here is the best thing I ever did for myself. Thank you all!!! Great question. I planed all my quits...but this time...I knew I was going to quit but I didn't pick a date way far off. I didn't even like the sound or January 21st...but something really moved me inside. I'm so glad I listened. After I quit...I put into practice all the things I learned from past quits. I then dove right in and gave it my full attention. I planned what I would do when I got home from work... what I would do when I woke up...and did lots and lots of research. I also left no way out. It wasn't I would give it my best shot.... it was I will give it what it takes!! I didn't feel like I "got" to quit... I felt elated that I "get" to quit.
