How many planned their quit?

Have to admit...I had wanted to quit for years but I NEVER believed that I was capable of quitting. I decided that it was time to give the patches a try when I had a leftover cough that just wouldn't go away. Quit for 3 days, realized that I had to get my act together if I was going to make this work (smoked Saturday, Sunday) and then quit on the Monday....and that was it. I don't think that I would have made it without all the support and advice that I received from SCC. I sort of did, but not fully. My friend told me about chantix and I kept thinking I should try it, but kept putting off going to the doctor..nothing new there. I finally got sick and while I was there asked her for a prescription. I had to tell her how to spell it so she could look it up....lol I got the prescription and read the literature, which mentioned stomach upsets. Since my illness involved stomach problems, I decided to wait until that cleared up. By then I was getting kind of excited about quitting, although I didn't really believe I could actually quit. I had a friend coming to visit, so I decided to time it so that my quit date was the day she left. I also timed it so I would have 4 days off of work so I could sleep through it...lol....like that happened. That is all I did to plan it. I found this site during my third day, I think. I had been looking online for info, but wasn't finding any support or suggestions other than Just Quit. And that wasn't too helpful. I did the glove compartment stuff, and in my Hell Week befuddlement never even saw the workbook. In fact, never saw it until well into my second month I think....lol Wish I had. Anyway, the combination of chantix and the wise and supportive words from everyone here has helped me to be free from this horrible addiction for good. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,000 Amount Saved: $680.00 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 0 Mins: 38 Seconds: 56

I planned my quit for 2 weeks. I set a date, the day I got paid next, so I could go out and get an herbal supplement that's supposed to help you quit. I calculated how many weeks worth of cigarettes it cost (3 weeks) and decided that I would quit for 3 weeks. I needed to get rid of a cough I had, and figured 3 weeks was long enough to do that. 2 years later, here I am! Crave the Quit!
