Posting my rewards

Great reward on the family trip. It certainly sets up an incentive. I agree with everyone else on here to have short rewards that keep you sane. Good Luck with your journey. New me,I for sure did not mean to belittle or make light of the sadness & guilt & regrets most of us have felt for what we did to ourselves & the people who love us. Re-reading what I posted, I can see how someone might think that. What I was trying to say is while there are certainly a lot of negative feelings & emotions we must deal with now that we aren't ruled by the junkie anymore, there are also some pretty ridiculous episodes some of us remember & all you can do is laugh at your sorry ass junkie self. I will try to find that thread & please, anyone who took offense, accept my apologies. Great insight straightflop. I don't know about laughing at myself about the things that I gave up to get my fix. I mostly feel very sad about my actions in that catagory...esp concerning my children. Maybe you could remember the name of that thread so I could read it,unhooked. mew me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 864 Amount Saved: $180.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 0 Mins: 32 Seconds: 22

You're so right, Straighflop. Especially the guilt when it comes to the kids. I think we all laugh at ourseleves a little when we think of the lengths we used to go to & the sacrifices we made to get our fix. In fact, there was a thread a little while ago about that very thing & it was hilarious! It is important to reward in smaller ways on a regular basis though, make sure you do that! That's a great incentive, straight. So true on what we have missed in order to feed our addictions. But no more, right? Thought i would post this so I have to do it when time comes. I told my wife and the kids so it looks like we are going... I made the commitment that on my one year anniversary the family would take a trip to Washington DC. We have never been there and I have always wanted to see everything there and take tours of the White House and stuff. So, I know got about a year, but still it will remind me of things I want that smoking use to interfere with. There were times when i did not want to take family trips because it meant hours and hours of not smoking in the car, time off by myself to smoke, the guilt of smoking instead of playing with the kids, feeling lazy and not wanting to do anything really. Man! I can't believe what we do just to get this filthy, nasty stuff in our lungs. Look at the things we have given up or not done just so we could smoke. You did not notice it at the time but really we gave up or failed to do many things just so we could smoke. It's a shame really. Being free is the best present ever, but a trip will just wrap up my quit nicely.
