Doesn't it feel awesome to be on the other side?? No more trying to race a puff in between meetings, at stopovers, during a coffee break...So good to be free! Hey stickin, thanks for posting this today! I had an experience when I left work today, and went out through the "smokers" entrance. Several of my old smoking buddies were there, admonishing someone else who had supposedly quit smoking, but was there lighting up anyway. It was a bad day for her, and she wasn't happy with herself but there was no way anyone was talking her out of the cig that she had in her hand. I paused for a moment, digging in my purse for my car keys, and someone said to me "oh no, not you too?" I couldn't believe how quickly I responded "oh no, not me!" At the start of my quit, I didn't understand the "freedom" part of quitting...I do now! I hope all quitters get to this point! It is amazing!! Until today, I really considered myself a smoker...one who just doesn't smoke. Today, I really felt like a non-smoker. I nearly skipped across the parking lot, patting myself on the back and noting how good it felt. I don't even think about smoking much any more...something else I didn't expect at the beginning. I really expected it to be always on my mind. N.O.P.E. BTW, the smokers group is getting smaller...I have talked with several who have quit recently. Some may be here on this site since I have been pretty vocal about it. I know I have overcome my addiction. I know I can keep this quit, yes I can! So can you! Stickin to it, I was just sitting here thinking about posting something inspiring to the Newbies and I think you did it for me. I love the last paragraph. That paragraph might just hit home with someone on the fence today! There is no time like the present to get the job started. Great post! Thanks! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Here today, gone tomorrow As I walk pass the smoking area outside the building where I work, I now walk as an observer not a participator. I use to do that, smoke that is. I say, I use to do that. I was one of the puffers. The puffers dont really seem like they are enjoying those sickarettes, as PrincessC referred to them, much at all. I wonder how often they think about quitting. Ive seen some of the same faces out there over the past several years. Time flies and the smoking continues and continues and continues. When is the stopping point? For some or many, it is illness or the threat of becoming ill thats the stopping point. And we put our lives on the line for what? To be granted the opportunity to squander our hard earned money on a killer, my killer. Here, let me give you some money so that you can ruin or destroy my health. Here, please go ahead take it and help me. Makes sense doesnt it? It is an addiction after all and addictions do rule the roost. You say rule the roost? I dont believe it. You have the power and control over your actions. Maybe you just need a little practice; you have gotten rusty, out of sorts, out of touch or given up. Recognize the addition and develop your plan to counter it. Think I know I can and think yes I can. Grow your confidence by the hour, by the day. Im here today and who knows by tomorrow, I may not be thinking about quitting again for perhaps several years. Grab it while you are thinking about it. Make it your time, make it stick, make it work. Envision the future, you without a cigarette, dream it, think it, feel it, watch it come true, watch it be you! Enjoy your weekend Stickin To It My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/22/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 523 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,414 Amount Saved: $2,876.50 Life Gained: Days: 95 Hrs: 10 Mins: 23 Seconds: 29
