Kev, gotcha on the tea thing, I am half-Brit on my Mum's side, but as I am American I drink it cold ;) but I used to love it with milk!! Well the dentist quoted me $276 US, but then reminded me I had these trays and then sold me the bleach to use in them for $12 ea, but they also sell in the grocery and drug stores Crest Whitestrips and other kits that come with the molds to form to your teeth, my DH has one of those - but I think if it makes you feel better it is totally worth it. I am doing it again after dinner tonight. Even if you aren't a reader, per se, you could get a book on tape perhaps? Just thinkin' hang tough Kev ;) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 47 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 470 Amount Saved: $82.25 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 12 Mins: 44 Seconds: 19

kev I bumped up Free and Low Cost Rewards in this forum for you. How about a new plant as one of your rewards? A visit someplace you haven't ever gone to or haven't gone to for a while? I could give you a week worth's of ideas for videos to rent; 1) North Shore, 2) Endless Summer, 3) 50 First Dates, 4) Lilo and Stitch, 5) South Pacific, 6) Lost: The First Season, 7) Karate Kid. Get the connection? hehehe No matter what, you are doing great!!!! I have a good feeling about this one. You have a plan, and the plan seems to be working. One of the differences I see is that you are taking control of what is happening. I hope your success inspires your work quit buddy to try again. Talk to you later -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 88 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,520 Amount Saved: $598.40 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 8 Mins: 25 Seconds: 8

How about renting a favorite movie? Or treating yourself to an iced coffee (as a change from tea?). Or download some new songs to listen to (I realize that is music, but still, it works!) Whatever you do, feel really good about each day that you go smokefree. And remember to tell those cravings to go to HE##!!! JDK, Why not make a crave basket? Fill it up with rewards and coping mechanisms. Gum, candy, movies, spa treatments, books, magazines, teas, devilish treats, crosswords, word searches and so much more! Your basket will be ready when you are! Josie, Support Specialist

Hey, Kev. Look at you, you're doing great! What's wrong with musical rewards if that's what you like? How about a massage or a new piece of clothing that won't ever smell like stale smoke? Something beautiful for your place, a plant maybe or a piece of art. Maybe a day trip somewhere special to you, with some friends who don't smoke? Keep hanging in, you're off to a good start! Hi Lynne, Sue and Gen. Books, not the greatest reader in the world, but I will give it a go. It goes to show that my favourite book in the world is the Argos catalogue (shopping). Maybe a book on meditation perhaps! Teeth whitening. Yes, that is a good idea, don't think it is as easy over this side of the pond though. Maybe I should google it. It would probably last 5 seconds considering how much tea I drink. Hence the expression 'English Teeth'. :) It is a stellar idea because my teeth are the one thing I dislike the most. Gen, bound feet. Man the sounds painful. Remember cravings are just sensations. They come and they go. You can tell i have been listening to that CD too much!! Keep happy and remember SSC IM in times of need. I am nearly always online. And if I am not, the kev talkbot replaces me :) I hear you can stitch really well (as an artform), so hope that takes your mind off it. Between, my work quit buddies and myself. 3 Days is the record to beat. Its actually something like 2days 2hrs. When I beat that record (given that I am in such a different state of mind), it might spur my friend into trying again. We compete against each other as well as help each other. Hello Kev Well done on the stats! Am in a funny place - mentally - at the moment because I had a bit of time out to go to hospital and have my feet bound.... Been hobbling around for the last few days with plaster, bandages and pins sticking out of my toes and no real access to the computer although I did have the laptop brought downstairs and I tried to log on because I still found those sneaky little thoughts about wanting to have acigarette sneaking in. This is a pretty sure fire way to not smoke though. I cant get out of the house. Can't walk much further than the kitchen and certainly can't drive. Am not suggesting you resort to these measures. Just writing to distract you for a few seconds from your plight! Don't know what to suggest to add to your reward wall chart except maybe you spend some of your feelgood vibe on doing a good deed for another person. Just don't go helping little old ladies to cross the road before checking first that that is what they want to do! Awesome news :) My fave reward was getting my teeth whitened!! I actually already had the positioners from my dentist and last week he sold me some dental bleach. We went to the beach saturday and in the photo my teeth looked so yellow I almost deleted the photo. After one treatment they look whiter already. How about a new book, do you like to read? There are a lot of new books coming out this summer I am excited about. Stay Strong I know you will do this!!! Cigarettes Not Smoked

17 years ago 0 1113 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi All, just starting a new thread as the other one was getting long. That and the fact that some could not open it due to technical issues. So continuing the theme. Given that I sometimes have the imagination of a small gnat, can anyone think of a reward that does not involve music? I'm going to do one for each day to recognise the significance of actually getting there. And I realise the longer I go, the harder it will be for me to go back. OK Day 1 = A nice warm bath & sleep (I need to sleep badly at the mo so to me it is a reward) Day 2 = ?? Day 3 = ?? Day 4 = ?? Day 5 = ?? Day 6 = ?? Day 7 = LAPTOP (whoohoo - also will have completed hell week) What rewards cannot be : A cigarette of course Anything else I will give a go.
