Valic, I hear you...and your being honest with yourself in admiting that is what you are thinking. It is when we fool ourselves that even though we are thinking heavily along such lines..we won't do it. GARBAGE!! If you allow those thoughts so continue it is re=enforcing that you will do it. We have ALLLLLLLL been there. Some of us on occasions continue to be there. Those of us that are still here DID NOT ALLOW IT TO CONTINUE. I know it sounds hard.....but you really can control your thoughts. There is two choices that you NEED TO DECIDE NOW. Either you buy a pack of cigarettes and be a smoker......or you don't buy a pack of cigarettes and be a non smoker. There is no magic wand. You just don't do it. IT WILL GO AWAY...IT ALWAYS DOES. Please think about how you will feel tomorrow. You can be on cloud 9....or you can feel like a low life for doing what you didn't have to do. You have all my thoughts and compassion. I will say a prayer for you. I really do understand. But I have also been so sorry in past quits when I messed up. I don't wish that on anyone. Please hang in there Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 152 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,040 Amount Saved: $679.44 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 0 Mins: 31 Seconds: 45

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

That party without a smoke is so important. You will learn to handle a new situation as a none smoker and you will re-assure yourself that this at this point it is all mental. At 21 days you are just about saying that there is no physical addiction remaining so it's all in your brain. You just need to relearn things now. Parties are one of those things. Enjoy it and wake up guilt free and not as hungover as you would if you smoked. Don't sweat it. Go to the party and have a great time. First thing you do when you get there is tell everyone you've QUIT. If they are friends they'll help and support you enough to get through it. If you REALLY WANT this, a little party isn't going to hurt. I am going boozing with the sales crew I work with after work today, they all smoke. I don't care about that anymore and you won't either if you hang in. If it get's too bad and is making you have a bad time...LEAVE. Keep it simple. Peace, I'm out! Thanks everyone! No I will not smoke at the party. My friend says she will have everyone go outside because she is trying to quit too. I just wish that I didn't have to think about it all the time, or maybe just today. Anyway I remain strong and have my water and hard candies. And my walk around the building is coming up so I will do that to get the blood moving lol. Thanks everyone for being there for me! I am a non-smoker (even if my head doesn't think so :o)~valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 147 Amount Saved: $38.96 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 35 Seconds: 22

LISTEN to Lainey, Valic. Remember, distract, delay, Avoid, LEAVE. Missing a party is worth it to keep this horrible addiction out of your life. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 648 Amount Saved: $135.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 18 Mins: 49 Seconds: 41

How badly do you want to quit??? If you want to quit than you have to tell that voice, "I will not smoke!" And if you want to quit you will have to avoid the booze so that you dont' put yourself in a situation to lose control! I went out for drinks about 2 weeks into my quit, after 2 I left to go home, I told my friends, "I just quit smoking and there are situations I need to avoid, this is one of them!" It was fine, they were OK with it and I was smoke free! Its up to you Valic! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 109 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,725 Amount Saved: $1,149.95 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 8 Mins: 28 Seconds: 39

I don't know if you've dreamed you smoked yet (you know, the one where you wake up and realise you were only dreaming and you're sooo relieved you didn't actually smoke)...well, imagine how good you'll feel that you didn't smoke at that party...I mean, hell week is just not worth throwing away - I should know - I'm back in it after blowing a 7 month quit - you'll be soo happy if you don't - you know that don't you - and....you CAN do it!!! I haven't been quit long enough to give you advice, just to say You have made it to 21 days and I know how hard the first few days were, I know you do not want to go through that again. I am sure it is still hard at 21 days, but I wouldn't want to go through the hell I did that first week again for anything. Hang in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT (said in the little dude's voice from "The Waterboy") My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 250 Amount Saved: $50.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 12 Seconds: 49
