Bear, We do not permit that websites be posted on the forums nor that you copy and paste the article due to copyright infringement. However, we do encourage you to summarize the article in your own words or to share the article among your fellow members via the SSC IM. Looks like our scientists are indeed finding a way to make nicotine helpful to people out there! Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I can just hear the tobacco companies already... "See we told so." As they try to justify smoking once more. On the positive note this is fantastic news as a Dr I used to visit for years told me that smokers are not depressed but that depressed people smoke. He mentioned similar concepts of nicotine releasing seritonin and thus people with depression tend to smoke more and feel way more depressed when quitting. This really is great news to see that we just might be able to produce a non-addictive, healthy way to treat such serious mental health issues. I found it. Very interesting. The article is called Researchers Light Up for Nicotine, the Wonder Drug it's written by Marty Graham on 6/20/07. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually agree with and appreciate some of the suggestions. By the way - these companies are not experimenting with nicotine as we all know/hate it  but it's a nicotine "relative" - without the toxicity and addictive quality (has a slightly different molecular structure).
