Stop & smell the lilacs

That is exactly IT, Martha & it makes perfect sense. That's what I've been trying to find the words for. Even with the crankiness, the fog, the weepiness, with all that, I feel like I'm actually LIVING for the first time in over 30 years. I feel things I never felt before, taste & smell like never before. It's not all pleasant but it's all life & I am grateful every day for a second chance to live it without the nicotine filter. Hurt when you hurt, cry when you're sad, laugh when you're happy, tell the people who love you when you're angry or disappointed. It works!!!! Aaaah Unhooked, Welcome to the land of the living! Isn't amazing. All the things we lived without all those years while we thought we were actually getting what we wanted. That wasn't very clear but hopefully it makes some sense. Those little things make the tough days a bit easier too. Congrats on all those 38 Days - you are doing awesome! Mr Ed. Hey (or hay) my dog says Hi. He smells and he's proud! Bath is not an option. He's also stopped wheezing since the air became clearer round here! Freemom, you could be right but I think there are different strains, my friend's in her backyard blooms every year. I just happy to be able to smell THIS year. Bear, there are no bad bears, either. I love the smell of lilacs too! But, unhooked, I hate to tell you this, but I THINK lilacs bloom alternate years, so it's possible there weren't any last year! :confuse: At least that's what happens in my back yard. I'm no expert, though, so if anybody wants to elaborate ... The important thing is being able to smell better! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 82 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 984 Amount Saved: $334.56 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 16 Mins: 6 Seconds: 51

Unfortunately, bad smells are easier to smell, too. I know some people like the smell of smoke after they quit but I can't stand it, makes me gag. It's disgusting when a smoker sits next to me on the train, in fact if it happens in the morning, I have to leave my seat. Maybe it's because even as a smoker, I never liked the smell. I love the smell of Lilac!!! This year we had a week or so of hard freezed just as they were budding. Not very many for this area :( I have to tell you my smeller is working overtime. We walked by a public swimming pool the other day and I should be smelling chlorine, but not me I could smell the suntan lotion. I find it amazing the things we notice when stop and smell the roses :) Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 500 Amount Saved: $150.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 19 Mins: 33 Seconds: 20

I think I love having my sense of smell back... I love walking around the neighborhood and being able to smell the lilacs, the roses, the honeysuckels and for that matter the pine but I also noticed I smell cigarettes too! ewwwwww Nothing like walking into a home that someone smokes in! Makes me even more greatful that I quit when I did (and that I never smoked in my house or my car!)
