8 months today

Thanks for the encouragement. I 1000% want to stay quit. It's reinforcing to know someone understands about still getting through the "rewiring" process after 8 months of quit. I'm getting the feeling the trip is just a process and gradually the "old self" comes back only better for not smoking. Thanks again! Keep positive Willy; - we are all different but we all have to work at our new, better lives and over time, provided that you always want to be quit more than you want to smoke, you will automtically rewire and feel better for it. It takes time - please give it the time you need. All the Best! :) BTW Many congratulations on a wonderful 8 months!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1127 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,540 Amount Saved: 5,635.00 Life Gained: Days: 181 Hrs: 0 Mins: 47 Seconds: 1

Lainey, I agree with what you are saying. Even after 8 months I an learning to cope with things in different ways than hiding behind a pack of smokes. I think I'm still going through the process of "rewiring" and things will get better each day until someday I wake up and go WOW! At least that is the way I'm thinking. Thanks for your reply! Lynne, Danielle, Mercy, New Me, Thank you all for your posts. I been computerless since I started the discussion. To be specific about feeling different, it just does not appear I'm as carefree, quick to laugh or full of energy as I was before. I WILL NOT smoke again. Just hoping over time the above mentioned returns to some degree. Thanks again for you encouragement. Hey.... 8 months is a great job!! I am learning it may take more time than I thought to be "safe". But so what...... I am saving myself from allot of grief later. It is hard work now...but I compare it to money in the bank. I get to cash in later with dividends. Willy, Could you be more specific? Remember, nicotine launched the release of neurotransmitters in your brain responsible for good mood. Rewards can do the same and one is in order for 8 months smoke free! Danielle - Bilingual Support Specialist

Felt better how? physically, emotionally? I think when we smoke for 30-40 years and then quit, we need to re-learn how to deal with emotions all over again, rather than hiding behind cigarettes and it is a task that is going to take some time. Meantime, we feel something is missing or not quite right. I think in the long run, what I have picked up from the long time quitters is that those feelings will be gone and we will be totallly comfortable in our non smoking skins! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 104 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,600 Amount Saved: $1,097.20 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 17 Mins: 57 Seconds: 53

Yes it is and even though I don't want to smoke I seem to think I "felt better" when I did than I do now. Any insights?
