ImaWriter,
Kudos to you on putting those voices in their place. They will tone down to a whisper, just takes time.

Writer,
Great job resisting those stupid voices! The difference between those who make it and those who don't is that those who make it call out for help when they are struggling BEFORE they smoke! You have obviously done that and are well on your way to a long, healthy quit and one day closer to a time when those voices don't bug you anymore!
Crave the Quit!

The nicodemon spares no quitter..... these voices are just to try and tug you in the wrong direction. You know the list of reasons why you quit.... you know how to distract and relax yourself. Just keep that guard up and keep fighting the good fight.....
I will bump my deep breathing post for you if I can find it. It's called I'm taking a breather ! You're doing wonderful and have had some great advice here from others.
Stay Strong ,

I remember those voices! I would set goals for myself to make it until the next hour. (Ex: I would say that if I still wanted one at 2:00 I would get one. I would make it until 2:00 and then say to myself to try until 4:00.)
I don't remember how long I had to do that but it worked for me. I would be so proud of myself for getting through the days, I think my goals turned into "If I still want one, I will get one on Friday."
Eventually my thoughts turn to "IIICCKKK, I don't want to smoke!"

How about this Imawriter
Would I take a drug prescribed or over the counter that at best is going to give me temporary relief from my problems and each time I take it I require more of it to get the same relief ???
Now we have the side effects of taking this drug, addiction, cancer, loss of our sense of taste , smell, and on and on and on .I don,t think I realy want anything to do with a drug like that. :8o:

Scream at the Junkie! Counter the thoughts. Take some really deep breaths. Remember you have made a choice not to smoke. This is a good choice and all the things the voices are screaming at you are true. Acknowledge them and move on.
Yes you can get a cigarette from you mom; Yes you can smoke. The point is that you do not want to smoke. It is a choice. Make that choice for five minutes at a time if that is what it takes. I kept telling myself that as long as I don't light that next cigarette I would be fine. It is true!
You are doing great. There are tons of things that will come along and unfortuantely you will probably hear voices from time to time. Just remember that you are in charge not the junkie inside. Refuse to give in no matter what and you will arise the victor.
Smoking is a horrible addiction. Once I viewed myself as an addict, I refused to give up. Time is what it takes. Hang on tight, the ride is a bit rough at times. Reach out for help when you need it.

Hi ImaWriter, mind if I call you Writer? How are you doing on day 3?
The demon inside you is getting desperate & it is begging for strength. He's crying out to you to make him strong but the only way to make him strong is for you to be weak. Like unhooked said, you have to be louder than it to drown out his begging. Get mad at him  Scream at him "I don't smoke" if you have to. You are both fighting for YOUR life!!! Why would anyone hand over something as precious as their life, to something that does nothing but destroy?
YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THE NICODEMON!!!
