Phil, You could argue that they were all being equally suicidal, it's just that the one who took the 3rd light died quicker! When I was younger and smoked it was pretty much such a socially acceptable thing that cigarettes would be offered round and one person might light a few with the same match but there was always that superstition. Then - just before I became A NON SMOKER - I observed that pretty much everyone smoked and lit their own. Maybe that's because of the cost of them now, maybe it's the company I keep but I felt it was because it was such a socially un-acceptable thing to do now and there is an element of shame about lighting up at all. Just glad that it's all history for me! Here in the colonies, too, Phil. Since I was a kid, only 2 on a match has been the rule. Of course, now we konw, he first light is the one that'll get ya! Heard this on the radio this morning it reminded me.... During the 1914 to 1918 war taking the 3rd light in the trenches was bad luck. Light one sniper saw it Light two took aim Light three BANG! Taking the 3rd light is STILL bad luck to many people in the UK! me xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 312 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,864 Amount Saved: 1,638.00 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 19 Mins: 12 Seconds: 27
