No need to be terrified. You have already laid the ground work for a successful quit by taking care of your physical well being. Your precious attempts will come in handy as you will know what to expect. And it sounds to me like you are in for the long haul, so get it going. You have nothing to lose in any of this and everything to gain. Once your mind catches up with your will, you will be quit for good.
I know that it can be intimidating, change always is. But if not for change what good is living. I certainly don't want to remain the same tomorrow as I am today. How boring is that...
