I've had a couple of wobbles this week but I was expecting that. So now I have also produced a highly visible smoking log, on an hour by hour basis. On view for everyone in the kitchen. Sun = 12hrs Mon = 6hrs So 12hrs is my record to beat. I'm only 1/4 of the way through the recommended CD listening session of course but am already noticing that every time I smoke, I tell myself I don't need it. One of the things I am working on at the moment is building my 'calm anchor' for when the craves hit. Its about releasing endorphins naturally instead of smoking to do it. Negative Kev is being thrown out the window and being replaced by positive Kev. My sunflowers have grown little heads too (the ones that survived the snail onslaught). So today is a very good day. p.s. its nice and sunny today My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50 Amount Saved: 8.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 2 Seconds: 46

Martha, You're absolutely right. It's not something I have discussed. Well simply in order : 1) Not standing in the pouring rain attempting to protect my cig from getting wet. 2) Ditto for freezing cold and wind. 3) The above for things like fathers day, family meetings etc. As none of my family smoke. I be the black sheep you see. 4) Health - You may think this will be higher up. Its a nice to have. Happiness is always above health. But I guess you could say that is 'mental' health. You see I've met a lot of depressed physically healthy people in my life. We always say 'happiness, health, wealth' when doing toasts in my family. 5) Stinging eyes (ok this should come under #4) 6) Not spending over 40 a week on my addiction 7) Being able to give real advice as a non/ex-smoker to other SSC members. 8) Proving to everyone that I actually could do it (and keep doing it). This may seem strange but there are more people than I have fingers that believe the only day I will quit is the day I die. I am determined to prove them wrong. I'll add some more to that in a bit. I actually like the smell of stale smoke, but that might change as I become stronger. Kevin, I admire your tenacity and perseverance. Congrats on Day 2 and I have no doubt that you CAN make it to Day 8. Actually I have no doubt that you can make it to Day 800. Just don't smoke that next cigarette and repeat ;) What do you (or will you) enjoy about being a non-smoker? I haven't read all of your posts so you may be repeating some info but these are things that, if repeated, may help strenghten your resolve too. Why do you want to quit? Aside from the phat laptop of course. Hang in there! Hi All, Yes it is a very different angle I am taking this time. It helps that a) July 1st is not that far away at all (this is only of significance for england residents) b) I have my real life quit buddy back on board. But the real differences are : a) A major reward (in my terms) for a consecutive 7 days smokefree. I've picked this idea up from my aunt who quit smoking after buying a car. Now a car would be useless to me but a top of the range laptop would be very useful to me. Suprisingly I managed to get this past my parents. But they now know how absolutely amazing it would be for me to make it to day 7!!! (one of them actually thinks it is impossible), given that they've seen me trying to quit 150+ times now. I will be amazed too, but very very very happy as I think I can do it. b) Listening to that CD every night has some major good effects on me. Never underestimate the power of positive thought. I draw a lot of positive thought from you guys too. I just gotta remember to just read the positive threads. c) The book, explains in detail the 'tapping' method and breathing method. Now the tapping method makes me look like a nutter at work, but the breathing method can work.
