Hello Appletree,
Wow, you didn't smoke for 6 years--that's impressive! Too bad you started again, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Today is a new day and it sounds as if your choices are going to keep getting better from now on. It seems to me that you have an advantage with this quit, because you know how good it feels to be a non-smoker. Remember the freedom you had as a non-smoker? You could go where you wanted without worrying about any place being smoke free--remember how wonderful that was? All those good memories will start coming back and the stronger those memories become the surer you'll be that at heart you are a non-smoker.
Like you, I have a crazy stressful life and can understand how you could use that as an excuse for smoking--I've done that myself. The longest I've stopped smoking in the past 50 years was for 8 months. I used the excuse of extreme stress to start again, so I'm really impressed that you quit for 6 years. I wish you the best in this quit. This site is very helpful, so keep checking in and the people will give you all the help you want.
