Thanks aloha, that's a terrific mantra to have. Loving the way your family chimes in with you. My husband quit smoking 7 years ago so he's is totally supportive and helpful. I'm trying to think like my friend who is and has always been a non-smoker. When I think about having a smoke, I say to myself, "VK wouldn't even be thinking about this so I won't either." So far so good. I'm managing well and maintaining my quit. here's what i do lightshines I say to myself "yeah, I feel like a cigarette" and then I ask myself, "But am I going to smoke one?" then I answer "No" Then I ask, "Why aren't I going to?" Then I answer, "Because I don't smoke anymore, I'm a non smoker, and nonsmokers don't smoke!" ...lol....i do this out loud....still..or do it with my family..they are used to it now..and they either laugh or chime in midway through. It is my all the time, anywhere mantra...I will not smoke, no matter how much I feel like it, no matter what is going on around me or in me....I will not smoke! You know why? Because I'm a nonsmoker..and nonsmokers don't smoke! Period. The End. Keep the quit, lightshines....I know you can -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,880 Amount Saved: $489.60 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 1 Mins: 17 Seconds: 34

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone. I left work and went to the car wash so my car could be cleaned inside and out, nice and fresh. So, I'm standing there waiting for my car to be finished and this lady comes to stand RIGHT next to me! Of course she was smoking. There's this huge area and it was empty except for her and me. I had been doing really well until I smelled her smoke. Much as I wanted to, I didn't yell or anything. I just moved far away from her. But it was kinda hard. When I got in my car I turned up the radio really loud and sang really loud all the way home. By the time I got here I was better. Whew! That felt like a close call. Way to go! Sounds like your first day's going pretty well! Be prepared for some rough days, though... just don't let your guard down. But it sounds like you might have an easier quit than some, and that's great! Congrats on making it through your first day! Crave the Quit! Well, I'm half way through the first day of my last quit! So far things are going really well. I've been on Chantrix for the week leading up to today. I'm not feeling any cravings right now. I feel maybe just a tad antsy, but it's not bad so far. I've been reading lots of posts here and I really think it's helped prepare me mentally for this quit. Whenever cigarettes come into my thoughts I'm trying to push them immediately out and remember that non-smokers don't sit around and think about smoking! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 1 Mins: 40 Seconds: 22
