A little help here

16 years ago 0 3541 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Thank you, thank you, thank you ladies. I left the computer & took a bath cause you can't go out for smokes naked with wet hair no matter how addicted you are. I told myself that I would not go for smokes until I had 5 replies & could come up with 3 good reasons to smoke. I realize this is a big trigger for me & will continue to be, I have to be less scrappy or find a coping strategy for the aftermath, tough for an old redneck broad! Of course, after I posted that cry for help, I realized there is way more going on than just the trouble I had here. I have been dodging dealing with the real world by coming here. I'm not prepared to stop coming here so I have to find a way to integrate the 2. Anyway, I'm still feeling a little whiny but I will not smoke tonight. BFS, you are wise beyond your years. You were not responsible for this stumble (not fall) in any way. I look forward to your continued insight and inspiration and uncommon common sense. Onward to the treehouse! Unhooked ... Some carry a great deal of stress and this journey in and of itself brings a great deal of its own stress. Sometimes, as a good friend has said to me, it's time to move on. This really is an amazing and powerful place for support, just be aware of when it's time to move on and let the other stuff go... :) Blessings... Well, everyone is different. Now, I did read somewhere that stress makes the body metabolize nicotine faster, and that is why stressful situations make you crave a cigarette more. I think maybe you are feeling a bit raw and a bit sensitive, but hang in there. I do believe it is the changes you are going through with stopping smoking. big ((((hugs)))) to you unhooked. Unhooked, I personally apologize if I made you feel picked on or misunderstood... and I CERTAINLY never meant for you to feel unwelcome. I can understand how you felt picked on and misunderstood... after I re-read my post to you yesterday, I realized that it was sort of harsh... basically telling you that you didn't know what you were talking about because you haven't been here that long. Well, I'm GLAD that you've never seen what I've seen around here (although the last couple days, you HAVE... and I'm sorry for my portion of that.) I would be lying if I said this sort of thing didn't ever happen around here, but unfortunately, it does. Fortunately, it doesn't happen very often though. But when you get people from different races, cultures, religions, upbringings and backgrounds all together in one place, you WILL have some ruffled feathers every once in a while. However, I'm sure that it WILL settle down eventually and will go back to being the warm, friendly welcoming place that it should be (and usually is). I wish I could say that this will be the last "flare up" that this site will ever see, but it won't. I'm not being pestimistic... just realistic. Again, when you get such a variety of people, this happens occasionally. I would like for you to show me a site that has this much activity where this never happens. That, I'm sure, is rare indeed. As for your cravings, this is yet another trigger that you will need to get through in order to not ever crave because of it again. Each time we do something new smoke free, we crave a little bit (or a lot) because our minds haven't learned to deal with that specific situation smoke free yet. The good news is that the longer we are smoke free, the less frequent those situations are, and therefore, we crave less. So look at it this way... welcome the cravings due to new situations (like this one) because you are one experience closer to not ever craving because of it again! How awesome is that?!?! Again, I'm so sorry if I made you feel unwelcomed or picked on. This really is a great site and you really are a wonderful part of it! I have SO enjoyed reading your posts in the last few weeks and look forward to many, many more! I do mean that from the bottom of my heart! Crave the Quit! Everybody, I sure hope I'm not going to sound whiny here & if I do, I hope someone tells me (Bear?). Here's what's going on. I posted that I was dealing with some cravings & was surprised because my first week on the patch went so smoothly. I said I wasn't in any danger, just wanted to sday what was happening for me. I have to say I felt pretty picked-on, a little misunderstood & not completely welcome the last couple of days. I considered leaving the site & moving to another one but in that time, I did not consider smoking. Now that it seems the dust has settled on that mess, the treehouse is full & we're going to have a party, I really want a smoke. Conflict has always been a trigger for me (& many others, I'm sure) & it's always after the resolution that I've smoked up a storm, so big surprise. NOT!! This is the first time since my early slip that I've felt my quit was in danger. I have no smokes in the house & I won't go get any (at $12.07) right now. Could use some love here right now.
