Confession is good for the soul

Just in case you check back in, Pete, I hope you don't leave us. I can certainly understand why you smoked. When things get really rough we all tend to turn to what is comfortable. I still catch myself thinking about smoking when things go bad, and, I have not had any really super-duper stress this time around.... It's over and done with, time to get on with the quit. Glad you're committed to quitting again! pete, I have read, re-read and then re-read again all of the posts on this thread including mine. Honestly, mine was probably the harshest of all of them, and I promise that it was said 100% to help you! I've been where you are, remember? I had 3 "slips" and while I never said that they were "good" reasons to smoke, I DID seriously contemplate going back to smoking for a month after my last slip (in October of 2005) in order to quit on the day that I started smoking 11 years earlier. To me, I thought that that was a "good" reason to go back to smoking... so I could make my quit date really special. I then realized how much the junkie had a hold of me and realized that that was just junkie thinking... even though I really liked the idea of quitting smoking on the 11 year anniversary of the day I started. Here's what myself and everyone else is trying to get at... If you're still thinking that you had "good" reasons to smoke, then what's going to stop you the next time you have a "good" reason to smoke? That's my only concern. If you leave the site for good, you are hurting nobody but yourself. You know, after 200+ days, that posting on this site really does help you in the early stages of your quit. So if you're really serious about quitting again, $@#^@& what everyone else thinks and stay here to get the support you NEED in order to remain smoke free. If you leave this site and go back to smoking, who have you hurt? Crave the Quit! Hi Pete Don't go away. Everyone here on this forum only wants the best for each other. Sometimes people get offended by what is said. But it is all only in trying to help people that things get said that maybe shouldn't. Really, no one on here judges anyone, we just speak kinda frankly sometimes. Hope you come back soon, cuz this really is a great site. UH OHHHHH! Peteg, don't go! You can do this! I know you can! Yeah, you smoked a whole pack. but you don't have too! We are all human. Capable of being so weak and simple minded. You were honest with yourself and confessed. It's good for the soul. Yes we are disappointed and well, ummmmmm... The only thing that comes to mind to explain it is tough love. FYI I hated my mother for giving it and then sayin in a high pitch voice that would stab like a knife... THIS IS WHY I DID IT,,, TOUGH LOVE... BLAH BLAH.. BLAH.BLAB.LABLAbb.BLAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH. Now, Get back up on the wagon and knock the Nicodemen off your shoulder. He doesn't love you. He is only here to torture you. YOU CAN DO THIS! Pete, I admire you for stopping after smoking a pack. For me a pack would have turned into several cartons. I honestly hope that you can recommit to the quit. You have come a long way in 200 plus days to start smoking again. You said something that interested me, and that is needing to quiet the cravings in your head to have some room to think. After over 200 days to still have those cravings rattling around making enough noise to interfere in your life makes me think still having cravings after 117 days isn't so abnormal after all. I have a question, after all that experience with over 200 days, why did you not believe that the craving would pass? Or was in one of those long drawn out cravings that seems to last for a week at a time? Sometimes, it seems, you just have to trust the quit. Just trust that it will pass.
