I could have smoked today

Nance, I can feel your pain and you cry as much as you need to. Had to do in January to my dog who was 19 it took me weeks not to see her in different rooms. I went out and bought a bush and planted it in her memory. You made it through without a smoke and I know that was pulling all your strength but you did it. Be good to yourself right now. :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 67 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,340 Amount Saved: $435.50 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 12 Mins: 22 Seconds: 9

MomMom, Sorry to hear of your loss but we are very proud of you for resisting to run back to old comforts. You did well! Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Oh, I'm so sorry about your kitty! I've had to put down beloved pets before and it's such a sad and hard thing to do. As you said, it's something that comes with having pets, but they are such a delight and comfort that's it is worth it. Congrats on staying strong on your quit through such a stressful time. It's a new non-smoking day, but I still look for Kitty in her familiar places. This is the 3rd time I have had to do this for a beloved cat, and since I still have one I assume it may not be the last. But, we all know that going in. The love our pets give us is worth the pain at the end. We have our own little "pet cemetery" up on the hill, and all are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for us. Love your pets, they are also part of your family. Oh, and don't smoke. :) Nance My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 102 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,060 Amount Saved: $494.70 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 6 Mins: 36 Seconds: 35

I too have been where you are today. She was my baby. (Before I had a real kid, that is.) Oh, it hurt. I did cry for days. At that time I smoked. Didn't make it any easier. I was grieving and I was smoking. We need to learn how to get through these oh so painful times, without smoking, and you will. One minute at a time. Thinking of you. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I'm so glad to hear from you mom!! I wish I could do something to help. I had a cat that lived to 18 years old too once. I also had a miniature horse I use to carriage drive in competition. When I had to put her down I almost sufficated. I cried so badly I couldn't get air up my nose and my throat felt closed in. Then before my little hurricane katrina dog, I adpopted a very old beagle. She had the worst life ever. I vowed to her the rest of her life would be the best ever and I would treat her like an angel. I spoiled her rotten and she loved and APPRECIATED every minute of it. She got liver cancer shortly after and when I put her down I had to miss TWO DAYS of work. I am a softy for sure. But as far as your craves surprising you. I think that our being cured from smoking comes in such small increments that we don't realize how far we have really come. hang in there... and ((((hugs)))) Mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 125 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,500 Amount Saved: $558.75 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 12 Mins: 1 Seconds: 13

I'm so sorry about your cat, callmemommom. That's such a hard thing to do & yet the right thing. I had to put a dog down not long ago & I didn't think I would ever stop crying, that first little while. I also smoked my face off, which did abdolutely no good whatsoever. You should be proud of yourself for getting through such a difficult time without smoking. Thanks for your sympathy everyone. I am doing well, knowing my decision was the right one. Mercy, you are an animal angel, adopting a Katrina dog. Bless you. You're right, smoking wasn't my first thought. That in itself is pleasantly surprising. Even now, hours later, I am not thinking about smoking. I will never smoke again. N.O.P.E. I am sure there will be more tests of my resolve, and had this happened 90 some days ago I don't know if I would have smoked or not. It really does get easier the further down this road we travel. I am so sorry to hear about your cat. It is very hard to make that decision. Good job on the smoking. I think the more you go through without smoking, the stronger you become Melissa My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,360 Amount Saved: $272.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 5 Mins: 11 Seconds: 36
