I sure hope you are right about that John. May kids 10-20 years from now be amazed and disgusted that anybody ever smoked! Just found out from the time I made my original post to today. Three more people quit at my company. I think because they saw everyone else was quit. :) I think we only have about 10 smokers left here. Just think, 10-20 years from now trying to tell kids that music used to come on Vinal and people used to put smoke in their lungs. They just wont believe us! BFS, that is so gross! I'm sure the health inspector would have something to say about smoking in the kitchen!!! If you or another non smoker were to get sick from the second hand smoke, is it covered by workman's comp? John, I can't imagine how that smoke room must have stank with all those people in there. I'm glad to see that now, there are real benefits to using the room. BFS, Hang in there. It may take a while but smoking bans will come to a workplace near you. Your city may be behind the times as it stands, however they will not be able to stay that way. Smoking just is not cool anymore. Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

You wanna know what's worse??? I work at a restaurant and my bosses and several coworkers smoke IN THE KITCHEN!!! I can't get away from it!!! In my city, restaurants are all smoke free, so the guests can't smoke anywhere, but that doesn't stop my boss from smoking in the kitchen!!! It's disgusting! Crave the Quit! Hang in there Butterfly Swimmer, You're ahead of your time and not out of synch. There's areas all over the world where smoking is still the norm, accepted anywhere and everywhere. This is a fad or trend that I actually need, like exercise and a predominantly healthy diet. There are fantastic benefits in pursuing all these. My company is like John's. There are very few smokers who step out to the smoking area anymore. We are owned by a large European Corporation and were recently visited by the CEO. He and most of his executives smoked inside our building at first. They weren't being arrogant or inconsiderate, that was perfectly natural for them in their country. Can you imagine being the person that told the CEO to take his smoke outside? It can be done and it can be done in a way that makes the person want to respect your wishes. Unfortunately, the right combination of tact, intelligence and consideration necessary to achieve this on a large scale has yet to be discovered. We're with you Butterfly. You are in the right here. I had no idea that kind of thing still went on. That is so unfair. I can't believe you employer gets away with that. I remember a long time ago, non-smokers would complain once in awhile about smokers taking breaks, and they were ignored but that was years & years ago. I WISH that would happen where I work!!! Everytime somebody would ask me if I smoked, and I said that I quit 2 years ago, they'd treat me like there was something wrong with me! More people smoke at my work than not. It's a sad reality here in a medium Midwestern town where smoking is more commonplace than in large cities on the coasts where smoking is socially unacceptable. It's a shame that that's the way it is here, but like so many other things, we in the midwest seem to be behind the times... at least that's true where I live. Another thing I really hate about where I work is that if you're a smoker, they don't have a problem with you taking semi-frequent smoke breaks... but heaven forbid a non-smoker take a break! It's like they're thinking, "what on earth do they need breaks for?????" Sometimes, it'd be nice to be able to take a short 5 minute break just to be able to sit down for a sec without having to clock out to do it, but if non-smokers want to take short 5 minute breaks, they have to clock out... but smokers don't have to clock out to smoke! It's ridiculous!!! Anyway, sorry, didn't mean to start a rant or anything... I guess I just wish my work was more like yours! Crave the Quit!
