Day two - cranky!

16 years ago 0 2039 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey Bonnie, Day two can be a pretty cranky day. From experience of over 100 smoke free days, I can tell you that the discomfort in the beginning is only temporary. I'm sooooo glad for that. How about some CSI or Law and Order. That'll take your mind of the crankiness. "Me" time is VERY important right now. So is C-C-COLD water. I have found that ice cold water does wonders to ease the cravings. My fridge has a shelf devoted entirely to my cold water bottles. Hang in there, Cheers, Jan :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 90 Amount Saved: $27.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 10 Mins: 17 Seconds: 48

Bonnie, I hope your hanging in there. You are doing a great job. You have to tell yourself ...."it does not last forever" ..............although it won't pass as fast as you wish it would. I found the best thing for craves is walks. I'm not sure what the correlation is....but it really works. I also found that sour things really help. I like sour tangerine stuff. Making sure you get enough sleep is HUGE. I had a MUCH.. MUCH HARDER TIME when I was tired. Also... in the beginning get your mind off of it. Give your head a break from the craves by watching a movie in the evening. It passes the time...and lets you escape a bit. Hang in there. Hi everyone, thank you all for the responses!!! I am now almost through day 3, yeah! I have been involved in a smoking cessation class since mid April (next Tuesday is my last class and May 1st was supposed to be my original quit date). And I have gone thru several online quit programs including this one. Also, in order for my insurance to cover the Chantix, I needed to enroll in their quitworks program which is a 5 session telephone consultations thru the American Cancer Society. Had my 3rd one last night right when I needed it. The woman was so supportive and by the time we finished talking I felt much better and then went for an ice cream sundae! Today was not as bad as I stayed home from work today (I awoke with a major headache). I slept most of the morning, and probably better that I was alone as I am still extremely cranky LOL. I don't know who posted about yelling at someone on the street but I can relate to that, my poor cats!!! Anyway, someone told me something yesterday which really helped and he said I only need to go thru this once. How true, whether now, next week or next month, I will have to go thru the w/drawals. And I don't want to go thru this again, and for anyone else out there, neither to you! Thanks again. Yup, it is still amazing to me how much crap cigarettes seemingly can cover up and hide. Certainly makes you wonder why on earth we smoked. Yes, I had heartburn when I first quit, and then last week (my second week off the patches) so it must have something to do with coming off nicotine. If its real bad, you could see your Doc & get some extra strength antacids. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,975 Amount Saved: $833.45 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 17 Mins: 21 Seconds: 30

Hi Timl. I had nasty heartburn last week for most of the week. I bought lots of yogurt an drank lots of water. I also watched what I was eating, like tomatoes, or acidic foods. Hope it helps! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,975 Amount Saved: $833.45 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 17 Mins: 12 Seconds: 0
