You're right, golferman. There is no GOOD reason to smoke, ever. I do think though that some reasons are more understandable than others & Cuddles' was definitely more of a reason than mine. Cigarettes Not Smoked

I agree I should not have had that smoke, but the other 10 days I did not smoke, so I took a day off my meter, so today I am 10 days instead of 11. The last 8 months I have been dealing with a Major depression disorder. I have been working on learning new coping skills to deal with the depression, I have come a long way, in the past 8 months, I could have kept it to my self about that one smoke, but then I would have been dishonest. I think I coped with it very well, because I did not smoke after that one, and it was still 3 hours before I got to see my son. I know I have a long way to go, but I am doing the best that I can. Thank you all for your responses, it really helps to know that people care. Cuddles, I'm happy that your son and his girlfriend are alright. That could so easily have ended tragically. Thankfully, it didn't. You are not smoking today, and that's the only thing you can control right now. You can't call back yesterday and you can't live tomorrow in advance. But what we all can do is to learn from our mistakes. I think that a whole lot of people would have made the same choice you did... to have that cigarette. And I for one understand why they might, and why you did. But you can't do that. If you want to be around for that son of yours..., and everyone else who loves you, you can't. I'm rooting for you, Cuddles! And I'm very glad that you're smoke-free today!! i am not far into my quit but i know enough that if i have one puff i will smoke. i take care of my brother who is 24yrs old and is dying from juvenille huntingtons diease and is in last stage so he does not have much longer with us. so i have my share of stress and it would be so easy for me to go back but i have a reason to not and that is ME! it will do no good to kill myself by smoking just cause i have a stressful life we all have stress in one way or another. i quit cold turkey and it was the best thing i have ever done besides having my daughter . and she is 20 and has a 1 yr old i will be around for them. Cuddles, Congrats on your quit and I'm sorry to hear of the accident, but I'm glad everybody is OK. The thing is Cuddles, others might be more relaxed about this "slip" than I am because I know your history with quitting. It ALWAYS starts with "just one" and then goes on from there. The reasons vary, but the outcome is the same... and it always ends with you regretting your decision to smoke and then having to start over. Right now, you have to make a decision... you are either a smoker or you are an ex-smoker. Which is it going to be? You CAN'T be both! You can NOT smoke if you are quitting! Period! End of story! So I urge you to make a decision... are you going to be a smoker or are you going to quit successfully? Until you decide that you will NOT smoke under any circumstances whatsoever, then you aren't really quitting... you're just faking it. Don't fake it anymore! It's a waste of your time! You have my email. Feel free to use anytime. You have my IM. Even if it says I'm "offline," I'm probably on. Contact me anytime you need to talk. I know how frustrating this quitting can be, but it's time to make a choice. Smoker or ex-smoker. What's it going to be? Crave the Quit! Cuddles, Glad to hear all is well with the children. Too bad you didn't practice your coping skills. Congrats on 2 days quit. Unhooked.. you said.. "At least you had a good reason for your slip.." That is just the junkie thinking that undoes a persons quit. THERE IS NO GOOD REASON TO SMOKE. PERIOD! YES, THAT INCLUDES DEATH OF A FAMILY MEMBER! SMOKING WON'T BRING THEM BACK! Until you can wrap your head around that concept, you will find justifications to light up. Junkie thinking. Lose it. Be Strong. Be Smart. Oh, Cuddles how awful for you to be away when something like that happens! Thank God the kids are OK & everyone else & that you realized smoking was not the answer. I'm sure you know that lots of us slip during the process & the important thing is you keep going. At least you had a good reaon for your slip, mine was just drinking with smoker friends! I'm so glad nobody got hurt. Ive been doing great, but I must confess, I had one smoke on Sunday and here is why, My 15 year old son and his 16 year old girlfriend were on the way to her house. she was driving. Will they got t-boned and the van they were in was totaled. I was in another state, I was so upset, I got a smoke off hubby. But guess what it didnt help anything and I havent had any since. Everyone in the accident was ok - 3 vehicles - 7 people. But alot of bumps and bruises but they were all ok because they had thier seat belts on. Cuddles
