Can't concentrate to save my life!

17 years ago 0 1056 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hello Janieblack Don't have any suggestions just thought I'd offer you a bit of sympathy! I know about the working from home thing but don't work to deadlines as such. I've only just really got around to doing much of my own work and what I have found is that it's great not having to factor in time out for cigarettes! The concentration thing seems to be a common problem with people on this site and you've somehow just got to get around it because it wil be worth it. Hello janieblack. This may seem kind of dumb but lets change our approach and instead of calling it work we,ll call it a game your playing. :) Or you could share the task at hand and maybe some body here will come up with an idea to get you motivated. You could also go to the IM if you don,t want to discuss it here. Just a thought. :8|: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 57 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,026 Amount Saved: $570.00 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 1 Mins: 45 Seconds: 18

Thanks Ed... I certainly have been being kind to myself (took the last three days off, really!). But I do have a deadline on Tuesday and need to get work done. I am not terribly stressed yet but am getting increasingly worried at my inability to focus on the work I need to get done. I was hoping someone had a good tip on regaining focus during the first few weeks of quitting. Do any herbals help? Ginko or the like? I've never needed those sorts of remedies but now might be in need. Janie, Be kind to yourself! It will take time to adjust, so accept the change.. You'll also notice in time that you were more sressed when you smoked, because you had the additional stress of craving your next nicotine shot! take care Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 458 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,740 Amount Saved: 3,435.00 Life Gained: Days: 73 Hrs: 14 Mins: 8 Seconds: 18

Hi all Using patches, I have now been smoke free for four days. Cravings are diminishing and I feel pretty strong in that regard but I do have to work and I CAN NOT concentrate on even basic tasks!! I work at home and the need for self motivation at work makes this even more of a problem (never thought I'd want a boss hanging over my shoulder to "inspire" me but I could do with one right now!). Any thoughts on improving concentration...? I have tried to give it some time and do other things (my house is now incredibly clean), be gentle with myself, etc. but I have a deadline now and am starting to stress (nope, don't need work stress!) about actually getting work done. Any creative ideas?
