The only thing that troubles me about this is the governments 2 faced approach to the problem of smoking
Bear, I completely agree!!! The government NEEDS tobacco for taxation purposes, so it makes it SO expensive to use, knowing that the addicted smokers will pay just about anything to get a pack of smokes, and makes it illegal to smoke just about everywhere, knowing that the smoker will find SOME place he/she can go, but does nothing (or very very very little) to help the smoker actually quit smoking! It's sad, isn't it? Crave the Quit! Isn't that the truth! I don't have much use for coalitionists either. I read an interesting story about anti-logging demonstrators that for years made logging more expensive with demonstrations and legal battles that the logging companies starting selling their forested land to developers to make money. The developers stripped the trees and started building, doing what they do. Those coalitionist are now getting in bed with the logging companies trying to keep them from selling there forested land to developers. It just makes you stop and wonder. I quit smoking and it was my decision for my reasons and that's the way it should be. The fact that I now could be considered of like mind with antismoking coalitionists doesn't do a thing for me. that's right. I am in Texas, and I heard about that law with the foster kids. I was telling my brother (he is thinking about quitting) that smoking isn't going to get any cheaper, and it isn't going to get any easier. The anti-smoking Nazis are not going to be happy until it is outlawed. I was on another message board for parents and apparently it is perfectly OK to be obnoxious and loud to force a smoker to leave an area even if it is perfectly legal to smoke there and the smoker was there first. Hi Mercy We are also adopting new laws in Canada. Its a good time to be a non smoker. The next thing you know it,s going to be a criminal offence to be in possestion of tobbaco just like the pot laws. ;p We,ve come full circle I remember 60 years ago when people started to come out of the closet about their smoking habits and women started smoking in public :gasp: The only thing that troubles me about this is the governments 2 faced approach to the problem of smoking but thats a whole new topic and there,s not enough room on this site for me to rant about that one !! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 61 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,098 Amount Saved: $610.00 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 23 Mins: 26 Seconds: 34

Hi, Thought you'd like to take a look at a new law adopted by several states. Better to quit now. Smoking is taking on a shameful reputation. Mise well make your quit successfull before the stares of people get more judgemental. New Law Anti-tobacco forces are opening a new front in the war against smoking by banning it in private places such as homes and cars when children are present. Starting Jan. 1, Texas will restrict smoking in foster parents' homes at all times and in cars when children are present, says Darrell Azar of the Department of Family and Protective Services. Vermont, Washington and other states and counties already prohibit foster parents from smoking around children in their homes and cars!! Arkansas and Louisiana passed laws this year forbidding anyone from smoking in cars carrying young children. Courts are ordering smoke-free environments in custody and visitation disputes. "We have laws on the books in every state of the union against child abuse," Mathis says. "This is a form of child abuse."
