Ripped my jeans and a "friend" told me I have a "tire roll" - time to do something!

banana, I'm just like you... I NEVER had a problem with weight gain until a few years ago... I noticed that when I turned 26, my metabolism changed. Then, at 28, I quit smoking and have been REALLY battling the weight gain ever since. It's hard to believe that a few short years ago, I was a size 8 and am now a size 16! I've doubled in 5 years! OK, I realize not really... it's just the way the sizes work... but still! I'm not happy with it! I was hoping that after a while, my metabolism would get back to normal after being quit for almost 2 years, but I'm afraid it hasn't! I'm starting to think that my metabolism will ALWAYS be slower now! That sucks! But at least there's something we can do about it. We're all working on losing the weight together! Congrats on your walking! Hope it helps! Crave the Quit! banana it is possible, believe me.....lol I figured i would let myself eat more during the beginning of my quit, anything to get the quit established. Now it's time to lose wieght tho. We're all here supporting each other. Good on the walking..that'll get it moving in the right direction. let us know how long and far you walked. Not a contest, just a way of marking it for yourself. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 47 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,913 Amount Saved: $319.6 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 13 Mins: 55 Seconds: 30

This is so depressing :( I have just started my 6th week smoke free & until a few days ago, I was on a wonderful high. When I had to buy new clothes because I couldn't squeeze into the old jeans, I got on the scale....OH THE HORROR! How can a body gain 10 pounds in a month??? No wonder I feel like crap! I feel really good about not smoking 920 cigarettes but I am also miserable with the way I look. I have never had a problem with weight, in fact, I had trouble gaining. I don't like where this is heading. Tomorrow, I am going to start walking DAILY....a good brisk walk is probably the best exercise. Now all that's left to do is staple my lips shut  My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 36 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 920 Amount Saved: $291.96 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 21 Mins: 35 Seconds: 11

Butterfly I am so sorry....hate when a song won't go away. I've always found it best to replace it with another song....hehehe Sung to Row Row Your Boat: Dig, dig, dig the earth Fiercely as I can Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily Shrinking down my girth -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 47 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,907 Amount Saved: $319.6 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 13 Mins: 27 Seconds: 44

OMG Kayla - I think the twizzlers did me in, too. :gasp: I got addicted to the pull and peel ones. I eventually checked and saw that each one was 100 calories. So if I had 5 of them in a day, that was 500 extra calories right there! I have stopped buying them! Aloha, LOL!!! I was singing that song all night last night! You got it in my head and I just couldn't get it out! Too funny! Thanks for the laugh. Crave the Quit! Count me in ladies and Phil, I've gained about 15lbs in my quit and had to buy bigger clothes and it's killing me!!! Most of it was all the gumballs and twizzlers. I walk at least 4 to 5 times a week and I don't eat much but the belly doesn't get any smaller. I'm also lazy when it comes to crunches. I recently started doing aerobics and hope to see some results soon. It can't happen soon enough though... I'm with you though!! Aloha, I LOVE that motto! No more sparks!!! :p I'm going swimming tonight. I'm also cutting back on drinking - one for money and two because it's high calorie! Monday night is typically a night I go out, so I'm trying to distract myself from that by going swimming instead! No more sparks!!! I'm with you folks!!! I lost about 35 pounds a few years back, but then after tearing an elbow tendon about two years ago and having it repaired, I never went back to bodyboarding, my exercise of choice, and had gained back all of it. Since quitting smoking I think I have gained another 10. It is Time To Do Something About It!!! I need to enjoy other types of exercise, or get back into bodyboarding a little less strenuously. I refuse to buy another piece of "fat" clothes!!! Let's keep each other motivated!!! No More Sparks!!!! No more Sparks!!!! No More Sparks!!!! -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,865 Amount Saved: $312.8 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 10 Mins: 1 Seconds: 3
