Hamza, Welcome to our support community! Please take a look around and use the tips and tools availble to you. The support group is great and can be of excellent assistance to you :) Make sure you work with your doctor, in regards to medication and how to come up with a plan that is right for you :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

Hamza, Yep, I tried it all, to no avail. But Chantix has been amazing. It has helped to rid me of the physical/chemical urges...for the most part...so that I can focus my energy on my anxiety, my patterns, my deep-seaded sub-conscious tendencies toward self destruction. You know, the actual addiction! ;) It's been great, and hard, and fun, and brutal, and empowering, and...did I say hard? Smoking, for me anyway, was only a symptom of what's really going on with me. It was a way that I would stifle my anxiety, for example. Take smoking away, and I GET to find new ways of dealing with it. I wouldn't have this clear a picture of these things if I was constantly biting my pillow to fight of a huge chemical craving. But by the time I step away from the Chantix, I plan to have dealt with a lot of "what's really going on with me", in which case the physical cravings will be much easier to tackle. I have no idea if I'm making any sense to anyone but me! But, hey... Oh, AND: this site has been instrumental. Good luck with your quit! --Shakes My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 41 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 823 Amount Saved: $369 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 4 Mins: 35 Seconds: 5

Hi Hamza I had tried just about everything too....and never really went a day without a cigarette. But this time....the combination of Chantix and thiis site is really helping. I hope you find the same success. Sounds like you are planning things out. That is a good thing.let me know if I can be of any help. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,198 Amount Saved: $367.2 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 13 Mins: 33 Seconds: 49

Hello all. My name is Hamza and i have set my quit date as 1st June. This is my 438th attempt...well, it feels like that many, but it's really only my 10th attempt at quitting. Over the years I have tried patches, gum and lozenges, all to no avail. This time around I am considering using Chantix (or Champix I believe it is called here in the UK), but I am still undecided. Normally, stress has been my major trigger and the reason I have resumed this filthy habit in the past. In the last few months I have been studying REBT (rational emotive behaviour therapy) which I hope to use to combat urges and alter my thinking about the nature of addiction. Well, that's the theory, anyway. To increase my chances of success, I have joined this forum, because I consider peer support to be invaluable. Thank you for reading and being there.
