Having a BAD day...First Terrible Craving

17 years ago 0 1543 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Lavndr, Your doing great. It won't be the last crave. Some are harder than others. Keep this memory fresh. YOUR BEAT THE CRAVE. Each one can be beat down the same way. If you did this one.... you can do them all. Great job!! You deserve a double reward. One for not smoking... and the other for having a tooth pulled.... ouch!! "Okay. So what do you do when your life is falling apart"Text You dig in for the long haul!! There is no alternate. I just know that smoking will not make anything better. The craves are bad-that is why it is called the demon. But each time you beat a crave, the demon gets knocked off your shoulder. You have to keep knocking him off constantly for awhile-- then he begins to lose energy for climbing back up. The craves get less often and less severe. I am not for sure they ever go away completely(since people with many years of non smoking relapse), but they do become very manageable. You have to fight. You can do it. Just drink water, exercise when possible and keep talking to yourself--telling the demon NO NO . It is your quit--it is up to you.. You can beat the nicotine demon.. Be strong... It does get better....

I am doing better now. Part of the problem is I had a tooth pulled. It was done surgically, and they had to drill into the bone. When I am in pain, all I can think of is negative, and I was in terrible pain. I finally got my meds and am doing better now.. Nic Monster is almost gone as well. Thank you all for your support. Hang in there, it will pass. Just tell yourself I WILL NOT SMOKE, IT WON'T HELP THIS SITUATION. I AM STRONGER THAN THE CRAVE. Your problems won't change becuase you smoked, instead it will seem worse becuase now you will be upset with yourself. Try and stay focused, and calm. Go take a shower or a walk or have a nice tall glass of ice water. Keep coming back here and reading and posting, it usually help. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,766 Amount Saved: $350 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 11 Mins: 30 Seconds: 39

Lavndr, You do just what you did now you reach out. Take deep breaths and keep reading. If that doesn't work go out for a long walk or just keep yourself busy. You are in your first week so you are going to have some tough days. This may sound silly but embrace the craves and try to envision them healing you body. Hope this helps :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,012 Amount Saved: $325 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 1 Mins: 1 Seconds: 9
