Weight loss & motivational Tips

The Bones, A few more tips for the exercise front: Start small: Even 10-15 minutes of activity has been shown to temporarily improve mood. Set a realistic goal: Once a week is a great starting point and remember you can always change your goal later on. It may also be helpful to schedule it on the same day & time of the week and let it become part of your weekly routine. Exercise is not a chore: If you do not like the gym, find an activity that you do like that will also get you moving. Some examples include sports, dancing, walking with a friend, pet or your favorite music, bicycling... Identify your barriers: Address what is keeping you from exercising and modify your goal or strategy accordingly. Hope this helps. Danielle _____________________ The SSC Support Team

hi bones....first of all great work...wow look at your stats....I just thought i would share with you what i have found....I try to drink water in place of soda, tea, and anything else with high calories...i found this powder that you can add to your water for flavor to give it a little umph...you can find it sometimes as a 5 calories mix-but i have also found it as a 0 calories~~even better yet! I also try and eat fat free stuff..some stuff doesn't tast to good so i add something else to it that i like and the calories are low on...yogurt, cottage cheese, salad, fish, fresh fruit, and fresh veggies....and then a treat every now and then...I can deprive myself all the time...( last night i had fast food....but it was a grilled chicken sandwhich..with a little fries--hehe :p just a little of my input....I haven't gained any so i guess I'm doin something right ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 326 Amount Saved: $72 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 31 Seconds: 57

Hi Bones - Congrats on your awesome quit. I am supercompetitive so a weight loss competition at work helped to motivate me. They have lots of mini-competitions at the gym too (In January, it was how many calories you could burn and they charted them) We had a mini-triathalon and a training group for that (The group was lots of fun and training for a goal motivated me to work a little harder). Some people do well at watching portion size...(I'm afraid that I'll always be a big eater so changing what I eat has helped - It was VERY important to find tasty treats that I enjoyed (Fruit smoothies are my favourite) Good luck on the next length of your journey.... #3 Get exercise in whenever you can. I personally like to walk and also will put music on and dance around the house. Other little ways - park a little farther from the store to get extra paces in. Use stairs instead of elevator or escalator. If you work in an office, take a lap or two around the workstations or even around the parking lot. Josie is right! #1 is lots of water. #2, is lots of veggies, and some of the 0 calories or very low cal veggies are cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflour, green peppers, zuchinni, all of the above are great, cut up fresh with dip (low cal salad dressing for dip) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,638 Amount Saved: $685.75 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 21 Mins: 48 Seconds: 54
