Help me sleep at night

I know where you are coming from and I don't have 5 kids to care for. You do need to get some medical help to get some restful sleep first. If you are like most people the more sleep deprived you get the worse EVERYTHING gets. There is no peace until you can get some consistent good rest. Keep us posted...Rose

Nina, I agree with Pamela, sometimes you need to go to the doctor, or else if you don't get enought sleep how are you going to look after all those kids? You need help! When the body's autonomic nervous system goes into overdrive (And you cannot control it because it is automatic); you need to rest your nervous system enought to get better. If you are still dealing with a stressful life, (Even just kids), it is probably an automatic response your body cannot control. So ask for professional help....take care of yourself....

NIna, Iam so sorry to hear that you are having trouble sleeping. That is probably one of the worse symptoms of panic and anxiety. I wish I could tell you a natural method to help you fall asleep, but I'm sure you have tried all of them (warm bath, warm milk etc.) The only thing that broke the cycle for me was taking medication. I took klonopin for awhile at night before bed and that helped to stop my insomina and after a couple of months I weaned myself off of it.Sometimes meds are the only way to control the anxiety and bring our bodies back down to a normal level so we can rest.

I don't think that I have had agood night sleep for months. Just the thought of sleeping will often cause me an anxiety attack. My heart will race and pound and my mind will go in a million different directions usually none of them good. I can often be found listening/feeling my heart beating so fast and thinking "this is it. I'm really dieing this time" and the anxiety increases.Catch 22. To top it off When I finally do go to sleep, usually much too late for a mother of 5 young ones, I am awoken just a couple hours later by my heart pounding out of my chest and feelings of anxiety pressing in on me. I can beat it during the day(the anxiety and panic that is) but at night, when I am just so tired all I want to do is sleep, I am at a loss. I DO NOT want to have to get up and clean or read or walk or sing at 2,4, or 5am. Is there any other alternative out there? Any Zen, Meditation, Zulu, Tai Chi cure that will send me off to a peaceful slumber? HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!! :)
